*Original Title: User Account Control

After installing Windows 10, I ran 'netplwiz' and removed the need to sign in at every boot up, this worked fine until I changed my Microsoft account password. The PC then started asking me to 'sign in again.

I ran 'netplwiz' and altered various settings I also altered some setting in the control panel.

I have ended up with no access to the 'User Account Control' window, the 'yes' button is permanently greyed out.

I would like to resolve this and also remove the need to 'sign in' at boot up.

Many Thanks

Graeme

Sahil,

Firstly thankyou for your help.

Method 1

I don't have access to 'Family and other users'

See Screen shot

Method 2

When I go for the Command prompt (Admin) it will not allow access. The User Account Window comes up but the 'Yes' button is greyed out.

When I try the other command prompt (users) and paste in the command it comes back saying access denied.

Kind Regards

Graeme

Hi,

Thank you for the update on the issue.

In this case, try the same steps in safe mode and check if it helps.

To start Windows 10 in safe mode:

1.    Search for Settings from the taskbar and select it from the search results.

2.    Select Update & security and click on Recovery.

3.    Go to Advanced startup and select Restart now.

4.    After your PC restarts to the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot >  Advanced options > Startup Settings >Restart.

5.    After your PC restarts, select a startup setting as Safe Mode with Networking by pressing the corresponding number.

If the issue persists, you might have to download and reinstall Windows 10. You may choose to keep all your settings and data intact at the time of installation.

Download Windows 10

Hope this information was helpful.

Hi Sahil,

I tried running the methods in safe mode.

Method 1:

I cannot add another user from safe mode.

Method 2:

I ran the command prompt as instructed, nothing seemed to happen, however I am now locked out of the PC completely. See screen shot below:

When I click OK the same screen come up.

I have managed to create a bootable USB stick, so I can get back into safe mode. I tried the create password on cd or USB facility within the user account area under the control panel but this had no effect, however I may not have used it properly.

Any help would be appreciated, I can see that I can re-install windows 10, this would be a last resort though.

Kind Regards

Graeme

Hi,

Thanks for the updates. I appreciate your efforts and time in resolving the issue.

If you are unable to access any of the administrator accounts on your PC even after trying the methods mentioned above. You need to reinstall Windows 10 on your PC by booting from a bootable media.

Hope this information helps.
