Avast popup in new win 10 install

Hi

I installed win 10 yesterday and now today I am getting avast security popups on the right of my screen telling me that I need too install there product to complete the windows 10 upgrade, I dont use avast nor do I have it installed. This must be from inside win 10 itself see the screenshot

Its really annoying to know some random **** company can pay to have there bloatware advertised within my new win 10 install, i want to know how to stop this and also stop it from happening again please

Thanks

Windows 10 comes with its own AV-Windows defender and this looks like an Adware installed by Avast itself(you might have installed avast on your older OS).Remove Avast completly:

Avast Uninstall Utility | Download aswClear for Avast Removal

Also confirm defender is set to ON(I assume no other AV product is installed) by going to Start>Settings>Update and security>Windows defender

Yes defender would automatically turn off if you are using a 3rd party Antivirus.

After downloading the free version of Avast antivirus and deciding not to us it. I removed the files from my computer, I thought, only to find this annoying screen popping up over the top of all my programs. I tried all the fixes but nothing worked so I call Avast support and a very nice tech person "with my permission" signed onto my computer and with some searching found the Avast Windows 10 Update pop-up file in the Windows 10 task manager software where he removed the file.  Make sure you're calling Avast tech support before you allow anyone to connect to you computer. https://www.avast.com/en-us/total-support

Hi,

please delete this file:
c:\Program Files\Common Files\AV\avast! antivirus\Upgrade.exe

Or close the popup 2 times, then it shouldn't appear anymore.

This process is made for cases when users are migrating from older Windows to Windows 10 a avast installation is lost during the process..

Let me first say I've never had, never wanted, and never considered using Avast! AV. However, 17 May 2017 I start getting that nonsense "Complete Windows 10 update" (by installing Avast) after the latest batch of Microsoft Win10 security patches, follow the rabbit trail and the upgrade popup was installed 30 Jan 2017 and stayed completely hidden until today. I checked what else was installed around that time and the only thing even close was:
16 Nov 2016 - Visual C++ libraries
23 Nov 2016 - Apple iTunes
06 Dec 2016 - more Visual C++ libraries
Absolutely nothing was installed in January, supposedly, so Avast installer popup didn't piggyback on top of some other install. It looks like it came directly through Microsoft but laid dormant for nearly 4 months. NOT HAPPY, considering as a programmer I'm pretty damn vigilant when it comes to viruses and malware.

Where did you get the Windows 10 installation Media, is it an OEM manufacturers disk, if so, Avast might have a deal with the Manufacturer . . .

Otherwise, this is caused by an entry in your Startup processes:

  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc keys together to open Task Manager
  2. On the Startup Tab look for anything relating to Avast
  3. If you find something related, select it and click 'Disable'

If you did not find it there:

  1. Press Windows + R keys together to open the Run Dialog
  2. Type msconfig in the run dialog and hit enter
  3. Click on the Services Tab of the resulting dialog
  4. Check the box marked 'Hide all Microsoft Services'
  5. Look for anything relating to Avast
  6. If you find it, uncheck it
  7. Click Apply and Reboot
