Antivirus not working after updating to Creators Update

Hi There

After installing MS Win10 creators update my G Data Total Security not working. Its says "Invalid certificate" or "module cannot be loaded". I have tried to uninstall and reinstall but still same issue. I tried to install Kaspersky, MalwareByte etc too, but same issue.

GData support sent me all valid certificates separately, and I added them to Trusted Root Certificates through MMC. Still same issue.

Scared of virus, ransomware etc now. Pl assist.

What is the exact problem with Defender?  Can we see a Screenshot using Snipping Tool ?  It is perfectly sufficient for most users with safe browsing habits, and for those who get infected I would add Malwarebytes Real Time protections to never get infected again.

Go over the Windows 10 Performance and Install Integrity Checklist - Microsoft Community to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done.  The quality of the install in Windows 10 determines everything else.

But if this is a Factory or Upgrade install these are inferior installs that most tech enthusiats won't even run.  I'd strongly consider doing a Clean Install Windows 10  which compiles the best possible install of Windows 10 that will stay that way as long as you stick with the tools and methods given.  There's also an automated Refresh that saves your files while shedding the factory bloatware that throttles Windows and causes endless issues:  Start fresh with a clean installation of Windows .

Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes.

Right click Start button, Uninstall GData in Programs/Apps and Features.

Defender should turn on.  Check at Settings>Update and Security>Defender

If you dont' have Creators Version 1703 (check at Settings>System>About) then run it now from Media Creation Tool which resolves most problems since it reinstalls Windows while keeping your programs, files and most settings in place.

If this doesn't solve your problem and this is a Factory install, do a Refresh:  Start fresh with a clean installation of Windows to shed the corrupting factory bloatware that throttles Windows and causes endless issues.

Since Windows Defender is working just fine, the best that we can suggest is to reach out to your anti virus' support for further assistance regarding the settings. Our support is only limited to Windows products, so the best route to take here is to contact Kaspersky support.

All the best.

Thanks for following up. Can you please verify if this is also the case for Windows Defender? Under protection updates, you should be able to see there the status of protection update. See if there's an X mark, or any error code included. Click for check for updates and see how it goes. Let us know the outcome so we could provide further assistance.

All the best.

Hey

I have two laptops 1 with Win10, another Win7.

On both most of antivirus are not working partially. I have tried MalwareBytes, Kaspersky, G Data etc.

During installation it gives error of certain digital signature. But program installs. But its firewall or updates doesn't work. In some cases I am unable to activate the program also "it gives error as "Program Module cannot be loaded"."

I have already done fresh installation of Win10. Created new Admin user in Win7. Uninstalled/removed all possible entries of any other AV using Revo, CCleaner and Antivirus uninstaller tools. Added Digital certificates of these programs manually... but same issue.

I saw following articles, where its seen that Microsoft seems to be blocking certain antivirus.

http://thehackernews.com/2017/06/kaspersky-microsoft-antitrust.html

https://techviral.net/kaspersky-files-complaints/

Need urgent guidance.

Thanks.

Hello,

Anti virus software works best when it is running stand alone, therefore issues like this can arise if you have multiple antivirus software running at the same time. Just to verify, how many other anti virus software do you have beside Windows Defender? (on Windows 10) Please advise.

We'll keep an eye out to your response.

Win antivirus is inefficient and insufficient. Earlier used only win defender but got infected system.

Used gdata kaspersky etc to remove many malware.

In any case issue remains that why aftet update its showing certificate errors.
