After Windows 10 update the Shutdown does nor work (ASUS X53T laptop)

After Windows 10 update the Shutdown does nor work (ASUS X53T laptop).

When I try to do Shutdown, it never completes. At last I switch the power off to close the laptop. When I switch the power on again, the laptop starts as from sleep state.

I have changed off the "fast startup" in power management, which may hibernate kernel-process.

Startup is also slow.

Hi, HifiTollo.

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand the issue that you are facing currently, and we in Community will try to resolve your issue the best way we can.

As per you query, I suggest that you refer to the methods provided below and check if it resolve your issue:

Method 1: Run power troubleshooter.

a. Press Windows +R key on the keyboard.

b. Type troubleshooting in the pop-up box and press Enter.

c. Click System and Security on left panel.

d. Click Power, new window will popup.

e. Follow the on screen instructions.

Method 2: Check if issue persist even in Safe mode.

Method 3:

If the power troubleshooter didn’t detect any incorrect settings, then it is possible that the issue is caused by an incompatible or corrupt driver. When the computer goes to sleep mode, Windows sends a request to all hardware parts asking to enter sleep mode. But if the driver for a particular hardware part (like a network adapter or graphic card) is corrupt, it might not respond to these requests and may prevent the computer from entering sleep mode. To resolve this, I would suggest you to run Windows update to make sure that you have installed the latest drivers for all the devices. Refer to the section ‘To check for updates’ in this article:

None of the suggested methods helped with my Asus laptop. The laptop could not complete shutdown. After all efforts the machine was so mixed up, that nearly nothing worked anymore.

  • The machine could not find Troubleshooting at all?

  • I could not update drivers, because I could not run Windows Update. It was running but doing nothing. I could not stop and restart it, even if I tried as an Administrator.  I could not kill its process?

  • I tried to downgrade install back to Windows 7, but the machine told, that I do not have required files?

  • I tried to reset Wndows, and recover Windows 10, but with no success, those operations did not got completed?

  • I tried to make a clean full installation of Windows 10 using DVD-disk (first formatting system disk totally, and destroying all my other programs and settings), but this new installation only started and soon stopped, telling that it needs some drivers that could not be delivered by WIndows Update (not specifying which driver it needs, not even for which device)?

  • After a while I started to think that the requested driver might be for the DVD-station of the laptop, it is Matshita, and I have not succeeded to find a driver update for it. Not from Asus support site nor from Matshita itself. So I connected through USB-connector an external Optiarc DVD, and started again clean full Windows 10 installation to formatted C: -drive. This installation completed, without weepings for needed extra drivers.

  • So after a week wasting my whole freetime for fighting against this Shutdown-problem, I had a running (and shutdowning ;-) Windows 10 installation in my Asus laptop.
