Protect Yourself From Tech Support Scams
Tech support scams are an industry-wide issue where scammers trick you into paying for unnecessary technical support services. You can help protect yourself from scammers by verifying that the contact is a Microsoft Agent or Microsoft Employee and that the phone number is an official Microsoft global customer service number.

Hi Guru,
Users may experience problems like the one you are facing if the device drivers are not compatible with the update that was installed. They may need to be updated too to resolve the issue. Before we can give you the best resolution to this problem, please answer the following questions:
- How did you install the update on the computer?
- Do you get any error messages when the problem happens?
It's best you check for available updates for your drivers and install them. Updates will allow the existing drivers to adapt to your updated operating system. To read about updating device drivers in Windows, go to this page.
You can also run some troubleshooters in Control Panel to get more details about the problem. Follow these steps to run the suggested tool:
- Click on Start.
- Type Troubleshooting then press Enter.
- On the left panel, click on View all.
- Choose Hardware and Devices and allow the troubleshooter to run.
- Do the same for Power.
Let us know if you find the suggestions helpful.
Regards.

Actually I have absolutely same problem, and I know what to do, but the problem is how.
If I understand it right this problem relates to those computers running on Intel HD Graphics 520 and the problem comes with their latest update. After I rolled back my driver, everything worked fine (at least I had no problem with the screen). And with Windows Updater trying to update it all the time, it is hard to make driver to not update.
Hope it helps.

I have the same problem and looks like the stripes appear when I touch the screen, otherwise, it is just a black screen (it is a touch screen device)! I have to turn it off and on again. I feel terrible, i do not like to shut my laptop down and closing the
lid- open to work is my daily life. Is there any solution without rolling my update back??

Louie,
I too am having the same issue since a Windows update this past weekend. Are you seeing the additional responses from people after your note, and the count at the top that says 122 people have the same question? Will there be a fix soon? This seems to be
an extremely urgent issue.

For me there is no way to roll back driver, and not even sure it is display driver.
I found a temporary solution.
Set computer to "NEVER" sleep
Set turn off monitor after 10 min
Then in advanced power settings,
Set sleep to "Never"
Then changed Hibernate settings to
on Battery 30 minutes
on plug 45
you can set what you like.
Changed power button to Hibernate
Changed to "show hibernate in power settings"
This basically stops sleep mode which is causing the problem, Hibernate takes a little longer to wake from. Did this so if I walk away from my Dell 2 in on laptop with intel 520
the battery won't be dead.
Sorry not more details, but have to get going
Good luck, suggest a MacBook to really solve the problems
