Win10 unknown hard error explorer.exe

Anytime i log into my account explorer.exe very rapidly crashes and starts again also  screen is flashing.i tried sfc scannow also tried regedit but cannot find load string.this started just after win10 update. Pls help im desperate

  1. Hi a3I4i. Will you tell me what build of Win10 are you using? You can find it by going to Run and typing winver. Also, how old is the laptop? Does it have Anti-Virus? Thanks.

Edit: Have you tried doing a System Refresh without affecting your files? How about CHKDISK?

Try this: When you get to the lock screen click the power icon, hold shift and click restart. When the menu appears, click Advanced Options, then Startup Settings and then click on restart. When your PC goes to the Startup Menu click F5. Did this fix it?

When in safe mode no errors but start menu and bar not responding.

Hi a3l4i,

PRE-REQUEST

Step 1: Windows Version & Latest OS Build

  1. To check your latest build:
    1. Windows Key + R
    2. Run window will open
    3. Type:
    4. winver
    5. And press enter to open About Windows
    6. Cross check whether you have latest Version & OS Build
    7. Till Today: Windows 10 Version 1607 & OS Build 14393.447
  2. You may achieve latest version through steps 2.
  3. If you have a latest version, go to step 3.

Step 2: Windows 10 Anniversary Update(Version 1607):

  1. To download & install Windows 10 Anniversary Update
  2. Microsoft - "Download tool now"

Though you have upgraded to latest version of Windows, please proceed to step 3.

Step 3: Windows Update(OS Build 14393.187)

  1. Once again update through Windows Update
  2. Follow this steps:
    1. Click on Windows Key
    2. Click on Settings
    3. Click on Update & Security
    4. On left panel click on Windows Update
    5. On right panel under Windows Update click on Check for Updates

If still getting an error proceed to step 4

Step 4: Check & Restore windows integrity


  1. Click on Windows Key
  2. Type Command Prompt
  3. Right click on Command Prompt and run as Administrator
  4. Command Prompt window will open and type the following command and press enter
  5. DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth && DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
  6. Please refer a diagram
  7.  Do you get any error or message??

Step 5: Scan your system

  1. Scan your system by Windows Defender(Recommended) or antivirus program

If still getting an error proceed to step 6

SOLUTION TO PROBLEM

Step 6: Try

  1. Load Basic Service only
    1. Press Windows Key + R
    2. The Run window will open
    3. Type:
    4. msconfig
    5. and press enter to open it(System Configuration)
    6. In System Configuration window, Click on Services tab
    7. Check on Checkbox of Hide all Microsoft Services
    8. Click on Disable all button
    9. Then go to General tab
    10. Check on Radio button Diagnostic Startup
    11. Click Apply and OK
    12. Reboot your system
    13. Check if it resolves your issue, if yes then some Software might be conflicting with OS.
  2. Rebuild Indexing
    1. Windows Key
    2. Type following in search box:
    3. Indexing Option
    4. Press enter to open it
    5. Click on Advanced button
    6. In Advanced Option window, under Index Settings tab, on Troubleshooting section. Click on Rebuild
    7. Click OK to proceed
    8. Restart your system
  3. Kill & Restore explorer.exe
    1. Press Crtl+Alt+Delete
    2. Task Manager window will open
    3. Under Processes click Windows Explorer
    4. Click on End task
    5. Explorer.exe will be killed
    6. In task manager Click File --> Run new task
    7. Type
    8. explorer.exe
    9. Press OK
    10. Explorer.exe will be restored
    11. Note: Check whether the issue is resolved or not

Step 7: Please let us know

It did not  work i went back  the old state with system restore no error now works fine
