Unable to unistall Daemon tools on Windows 10 after installing Windows 10 Anniversary update.

Original Title: Windows 10 Version 1607

My desktop is HP Envy 700-414. I'm using on Windows 10 and I updated it to the version 1607.

But, it seems that the version is not stable yet. I have installed Daemon tools, but the app is not working at all after the update.

I tried to uninstall the program, but I couldn't do that. I tried to do it manually, but it didn't work, as well.

The message is appeared whenever I log in the Windows.

I don't have an idea how to remove it. Do I need to rollback the update to the previous status?
Are there any solutions?

Also, the booting speed might affect. It is kind of slower than the previous.

Hello,

We understand the issue you are facing and will assist you.

I suggest you to run the System Maintenance troubleshooter by following the steps provided below and check if you are able to uninstall the application.

  1. Type Troubleshooting in the search box and press Enter.
  2. Click on View All in the top left pane.
  3. From the list click on System Maintenance and follow the on screen prompts.

If the issue still persists, then check if you are able to uninstall the application in Safe Mode. Safe mode starts Windows in a basic state, using a limited set of files and drivers. It can help you troubleshoot problems on your PC.

Start your PC in safe mode in Windows 10

After you uninstall the application, install the same in compatibility mode by following the steps provided below and check if it helps.

  1. Download the setup files for the application from the manufacturer website and save it on your local disk.
  2. Right click on the setup file of the application and select “Properties”.
  3. Select “Compatibility” Tab.
  4. Place a check mark next to“Run this program in Compatibility mode” and select operating system from the drop down list.
  5. Let the application install and then check thefunctionality.

Hope this helps. Keep us posted on the status for further assistance.

Thank you.

Thanks for your answer. I tried the instructions you suggested, but it was still the same.

I checked troubleshooting, but there weren't any issues, and I restart on Windows as a safe mode either general one and one with networking.

But, I cannot still uninstall the software. Once I try to uninstall, the action center displays the message that the app is not compatible with this version of Windows.

I checked all the drivers are updated.

I'm wondering that rollback will be only the solution.

The error message is that the daemon tool is not compatible with the current version of Windows. I tried to uninstall the software but i couldn't do that because of that message.

Please let me know any suggestions to solve the problem. Thanks.

For what it is worth, I get the exact same error. After login, Windows tells me that "Daemon Tools does not work with this version of Windows". If I try to run the uninstaller, from the installation directory of Daemon Tools, I get the same error message again.

Hi Jiyoung,

Boot the computer in Clean boot state and check if you are unable to remove/uninstall Daemon tools due to installed third party applications/programs.

Putting the system in Clean boot will enable the PC to start using minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program in Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista.

Refer to the section How to perform a clean boot for Windows 10 from the article.

Disclaimer: Start the computer in normal mode refer the section, How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting from the link above.

Refer to Repair or remove programs article and check if it helps.

Write to us with the status of the above issue for further assistance. Your reply is most important for us to ensure we assist you accordingly.

Thank you.

I tried the clean boot process, but it isn't still available to remove the software, even i tried to remove by clicking the uninstaller in physical folder as well as a try of Windows 10 settings. I forced to deleting the entire folder but i cannot remove the folder as well because of the uninstaller.

What i'm thinking is that rollback of Windows might be working properly but i'm not sure.

Please let me know another suggestions if there it is.

Thanks.

The files may be corrupted, hence the message. Have you tried doing it in safe mode with networking? Have you tried reinstalling a fresh copy, then use revo uninstaller to remove it completely?

You could also try using "Autoruns" to locate all related files and disable or delete them.

Note: Be very careful and follow the usage instructions or you could render your system inoperable.

Autoruns for Windows v13.62.

This utility, which has the most comprehensive knowledge of auto-starting locations of any startup monitor, shows you what programs are configured to run during system bootup or login, and when you start various built-in Windows applications like Internet Explorer, Explorer and media players. These programs and drivers include ones in your startup folder, Run, RunOnce, and other Registry keys. Autoruns reports Explorer shell extensions, toolbars, browser helper objects, Winlogon notifications, auto-start services, and much more. Autoruns goes way beyond other autostart utilities.

Autoruns' Hide Signed Microsoft Entries option helps you to zoom in on third-party auto-starting images that have been added to your system and it has support for looking at the auto-starting images configured for other accounts configured on a system
