My PC freezes and a buzzing sound comes from speakers, also cannot be force shutdown?

Today I had turned on my PC but its had frozen after I logged on, there was a high pitched buzz noise coming from my speakers. I tried to hold down my power button, but it wouldn't turn off. What should I do?

First, is this a laptop or a desktop ?

Sometimes , it caused by a random hardware failure or outdated driver on your Windows.

Thank you for your quick reply, its good that your using a desktop, meaning we can consider a hardware check as well.

The only way I can turn off my pc is by turning it off by the power supply or unplugging it. Im not sure if I should do that though.

Hi BM-

If that is the only option we have right now, yes you may do that and perform the given solution above.

Also, Kindly run this command to might check if there are file corruption issue on your Windows.

Please try the followings steps below.

1. Windows Key + R
2. Type CMD right click and run as administrator.
3. Copy and paste each command below, you need to do it one at a time until
finishes scanning.

sfc /scannow

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth



Note: While the command is running, it's expected to see the process stuck at particular percent. After a few minutes, the process will complete successfully.


Once you complete the steps, the Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool will connect to the Windows Update servers to download and replace any corrupted files in the local image for Windows 10 as necessary.


Also, kindly minimize the running services on your computer to see if some of your third party applications cause the concern.


Press Windows key + R
Type: msconfig then press enter
On the system configuration window go to services tab
Check hide all Microsoft services on the lower left corner of the window.
Click disable all
Click apply then okay.
It will ask you for restart and kindly restart your computer to apply the changes.

You also might want to look through the Event Viewer to see if anything shows up there.

A graphical presentation can also help because you can see repetitive situations.  If you want the graph, type perfmon /rel in a run box and when you run it, it will create a graph on your desktop.  Select specific days to get info about that day..

If this situation only happened after heavy usage or heat build up, that might be another thing to check.
