Elan TPCfg has stopped working on Windows 10

I am receiving the error message "Elan TPCfg has stopped working." I have Windows 10. I use Mozilla Firefox. This morning I updated my display driver because after the Windows 10 update two days ago, I have been experiencing the message "display driver stopped working and recovered." I searched and found a company "Driver Talent" that had a website to download and fix the problem with NVIDIA GeForce GTX and I updated that. So... now I am wondering what all this has done to my computer which is ASUS laptop and was purchased just this last February 2015. I have done a search for this error message and mostly I see it referenced with Windows 7. What do I do now? Thanks for any help.

I said in the original post above, "This morning I updated my display driver because after the Windows 10 update two days ago, I have been experiencing the message "display driver stopped working and recovered." I searched and found a company "Driver Talent" that had a website to download and fix the problem with NVIDIA GeForce GTX and I updated that. "

I have not updated the touchpad drivers. I do seem to be able to use the touchpad. I get the message every time my computer goes to sleep, or if I turn it off, and when I turn it back on, the message comes up "Elan TPCfg has stopped working. Close the program."

Now ... I don't know what else I can tell you that is not already stated in the first post and now this one.

I just went to ASUS and their site is not operational at this time due to maintenance or something like that.

Hi Marsha,

Perform Clean Boot and check.

Placing your system in Clean Boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue. Check this issue in clean boot state.

  1. Press Windows key + X key. And select Run.
  2. Type msconfig in the Run box and hit Enter.
  3. On the Services tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then tap or click Disable all.
  4. On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click Open Task Manager.
  5. On the Startup tab in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and then click Disable.
  6. Close Task Manager.
  7. On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click OK, and then restart the computer.

My computer was taken to the place of purchase because I purchased insurance and the keyboard was bad, and the video card was going. So, I have not had my computer since Dec. 21. I would assume the problems will be resolved when I get it back. I was told the motherboard had to be replaced among other things. So thank you for taking time to help.
