Computer Randomly Crashing

Hi,

Pretty much over the last week ive been experiencing computer crashes frequently. Two things either happen: 1) both monitors turn to black but the computer is still on and (it sounds like) the gpu fan goes full speed and wont stop until I manually turn off the computer by holding the power button or 2) computer fully turns off but starts up again after a few seconds. Both times I get roughly the same error logs;

Description

A problem with your hardware caused Windows to stop working correctly.

Now I think that "nvlddmkm.sys" is a problem with NVidia drivers so ive tried a few things to fix this myself to no avail. Firstly, I fully uninstalled all Nvidia drivers and installed new ones, but it still crashed in the same manner, secondly I tried installing an older version of nvidia drivers, but it still crashed in the same manner. I began to think it was a problem with the graphics card itself so I switched it out with another graphics card (Nvidia 1060 3gb) but it still crashed (error log below)

So now I have no idea what could be causing it to constantly crash. Any help would be appreciated.

Please upload the minidump files so the community can review what device or drivers is causing it.
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

1. Clean install the Nvidia Graphics drivers using DDU
Display Driver Uninstaller
https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-dr...

Run the application from Safe mode.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12376/...

Select Clean and restart
Once the drivers are uninstalled
Install the latest Graphics Card driver

2. Check GPU temperature when playing games as it might be overheating.

3. If that didn't work. This issue commonly happen due to power supply issues.
Check power cables if its fitted correctly or check any for damages.

Hi Jan,

Thank you for the quick reply. For some reason there is no minidump created when my computer crashes, I've checked event viewer and it comes up with "Dump file creation failed due to error during dump creation." I've checked both the dump file creation path and the dump file settings and both seem to be in order, so Im confused as to why a dump file cannot be created

Nevertheless, I have followed the steps you provided with DDU and reinstalling the gpu drivers so ill wait and see if it crashes again! Regarding the temperatures, I have been running msi afterburner and core temp to measure both temperatures of my processor and gpu while under stress. Core temps seem to stabilise at 80-85 degrees while under full load, whilst gpu temperature never reaches above 70/75 degrees,

Thanks for the update. Did you check your power supply (PSU) and power cables?

Ok just checked the psu, everything seems fine, I also believe that the psu definitely has a strong enough wattage (550).

Also a quick situation update;

The PC has crashed twice since doing the DDU step, however both times it did not list as hardware error in the reliability monitor as it had done all previous times (EDIT: nevermind it has just crashed again this time with the same hardware error as the first message). These two times it only states that Windows was not properly shut down. I also checked the Event Viewer and nothing was detected to be the cause. All it said was:

The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
