Battery drain after update : Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB3200970)

My laptop installed the following update;

Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB3200970)

Since then my battery life has been cut from six hours to two. There is a task called System that describes itself as 'NT Kernel and system' that is taking 10% of my CPU time.

Anyone know what has happened? What is Windows busying itself with constantly?

My computer is a Clevo P650RS with an Intel I7 6820HK, 16GB of ram and a Samsung PVMe SSD.

Hi Rob,

To help you fix the issue on your laptop, kindly provide more details:

1. What are the troubleshooting steps you performed?
2. Is the issue happening during Safe Mode?
3. After the update, it might be possible that some of the drivers on your computer may not be optimized for the new update. Check if you have outdated drivers and update them.

We will wait for your reply.

Regards.

With my system Malwarebytes found a PUP which I removed and Trusteer Report clashed with windows 10 update and was removed then CPU returned to normal 1-2%
