Hi Alina,

This is an error with the sound card utility process. Most common cause of this issue is due to the sbavmonl.dll file or program has been deleted or misplaced. Now, to resolve this error on your computer, you can go the sound card manufacturer's website, then download and install the latest driver and software for your audio device.

Should you need further assistance regarding this concern, feel free to post back.

Hi Marque,

Unfortunately updating the driver didn't resolve my problem.

If I check for updates through the "device manager" it says I have latest drivers. My Dell support assist program tells the same. All the drivers on my computer are up to date.

It happened after the Windows update. So what should I do?

Thank you.

I have the same problem after installing the Fall Creators Update.

I do not have a Creative sound card. I have a Lenovo T440s laptop with Realtek sound, so why does it want a SoundBlaster driver?!

Windows version: 1709 build 16299.64

Hello Alina,

You mentioned that you tried updating your driver through the Device Manager, did you try downloading your sound card driver from its original equipment manufacturer's website? If not, kindly do so, then check if the issue persists.

If directly downloading the driver from its original equipment manufacturer doesn't resolve your concern, try uninstalling the update that was installed on your computer before the issue started. To do so, kindly follow the steps under How do I remove an installed update? in this article: Windows Update: FAQ.

Kindly get back to us once you've tried the steps that we have provided.

Hi Microsoft

Most of us here doesn't have a SoundBlaster soundcard - I'm on a Lenovo T440s laptop which I believe is a Realtek soundcard. Why on earth do I still - almost 3 month later from the Windows Update - still have this error on my computer? You put it there, I didn't. Please remove it.

Best regards,

SvendK

If you still have the windows.old folder, copy and paste the SBAVMon and SBAVMonL .dlls from its main system 32 folder into the current windows/system32 folder as demonstrated.
