How do I fix installer error code 2318?

When I was trying to UNinstall 2 programs (Bluestacks and Popcorn Time) I get the message "the installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with the package.  The error code is 2318". Again, I'm uninstalling due to Popcorn Time never worked and Bluestacks stopped after I upgraded to Windows 10 (it was the free upgrade if that info helps ya'll to help me lol)

Hi Adrian,

Thank you for the update.

I suggest you to try the methods given below and check if it helps.

Method 1: Check if the Installer Service is running. To do so, follow these steps.

  1. press Windows + R and type “Services.msc” (without quotes) and press Enter.
  2. Double-click Windows Installer.
  3. Set the Startup type of Windows Installer to Manual.
  4. Click Start to start the service. Note down the error message if any. Click OK.

Method 2: Place the computer in a Clean Boot state and check if it helps.

A clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program in Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista. You may also troubleshoot or determine what conflict is causing the problem by performing a clean boot.

Please refer the steps given in the link below to perform a Clean Boot:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135?ppud=4&wa=wsignin1.0

Applies to Windows 10.

Note: Please go through the section: How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot of the Kb article to boot the computer in normal startup after fixing the issue.

Let us know if you need further assistance. We will be happy to help.

Thank you.

None of the above steps removes the error code 2318 issue in Windows 10.  The above link in Method 2 is broken or the page does not exist.

I have disabled the Firewall in McAfee...  I am attempting to uninstall WD MyCloud app in order to update it.  I have tried and tried and tried.  WD Customer service has no answer to this Microsoft issue.
