When I went in to Programs & Features I have 10 Microsoft Visual C++ listed - 1 2005 Redistributable, then 6 2008 then 2 2010 (x64 & x86) then there is a 2012 (x86) and a Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime.  I have no clue what to delete and not delete.  when I looked at the link you posted above it all is about  2013 - title reads

Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013

System requirements are as follows:  Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Vista Service Pack 2, Windows XP

I don't see anything about Windows 10.  I AM TERRIBLY CONFUSED....but I really want this box to stop popping up with the message. SO - please help me understand what to delete and if this is the right thing to download.  Thanks!

You delete every single C++ redistributable package.

I rebooted after I deleted them all. Then goto link to download the latest version listed as step 2: solved my problems. Should work for you guys as well.

This did not work for me.  What do I do?

Much like the OP, I am *not* technical nor Windows friendly so a response in plain helpful English is key.

This stealth 10 update where I got the "all your files..." message has totally jacked up my new laptop and I am not happy.

Thank you in advance for your prompt and clear response.

I tried this but it didn't work.  I also ended up having to put 2012 version 4 back on as well but the error message keeps on keeping on.  Ideas?  Thanks.

im having exactly the same problem as Karin, my windows updated from windows 8 to windows 10 without permissión and now im having the same error.

The error says that SYSTEM32/MSV120.DLL is not designed to work for window or has an error. Ends with the 0xc000012f error.....

I have al last upgraded to Windows 10 to see if the error dissapears but still is there. ¿What should we do?

I can fix this by selecting "Repair" Visual Studio 2013

vcredist_x86.exe and  vcredist_x64.exe.

And restart system.

Thanks for your feedback.

So my solution (I just had a massive update that obviously replaced the MSV120.DLL)  was thus:

Remove all Visual Studio versions (I had a lot - like 12)

restart

install the 2013 version

restart

Write Microsoft or get on their chat and complain like an old person

The fact that Microsoft's updates, Adobe's updates, etc screw this file up almost every time is a problem

Good luck
