Blue Screen Error: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

I get this blue screen every time I reach the desktop when computer has been off for an hour or so. After restarting I will blue screen again a little later than the first time, and again a little later. Anywhere from 3-8 blue screens until it finally stabilizes for a long period of time, usually. I had the same hardware with the exception of 8 GB of RAM on windows 7 and never blue screened. Memtest hasn't found any issues. It would be nice to have a stable system on startup again.

Have you added any hardware lately? Have you updated any driver just before these started? (Check Control Panel - Windows Updates to see if any drivers were updated there about the time this started) Main likely culprits are Video driver, other major drivers, memory, and antivirus/antispyware/security products could be at fault as well as drive issues.

This utility makes it easy to see which versions are loaded :

Run DriverView - set VIEW to Hide Microsoft drivers - update those without
Dump in their names (and update BIOS and chipset drivers).

DriverView - Free - utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system. For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver, description, version, product name, company that created the driver, and more.
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/driverview.html

For Drivers check System Maker as fallbacks and Device Maker's which are the most current.  Right Click the Start Button - Device Manager - Display Adapter - write down the make and complete model of your video adapter - double click - Driver's tab - write down the version info. Now click UPdate Driver (this may not do anything as MS is far behind certifying drivers) - then Right Click - Uninstall - REBOOT this will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat that for Network - Network Card (NIC), Wifi, Sound, Mouse and Keyboard if 3rd party with their own software and drivers and any other major device drivers you have.

Now go to System Maker's site (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) (as rollback) and then Device Maker's site (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI as examples) and get their latest versions. (Look for BIOS, Chipset, and software updates at System Maker's site while there.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - Right Click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after each installation.

Always check in Device Manager - Drivers tab to be sure the version you are installing actually shows up. This is because some drivers rollback before the latest is installed (sound drivers particularly do this) so install a driver - reboot - check to be sure it is installed and repeat as needed.

Repeat at Device Makers - BTW at Device Makers DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER - check manually by model.

Manually look at manufacturer's sites for drivers - and Device Maker's sites.

====================================================

Memory tests do not catch all errors such as mismatched memory (possible even for sticks that appear to be identical) and when faster memory is placed in system behind slower memory. So it is best to also swap sticks in and out to check for those even if all memory tests fail to show a problem.

To test RAM check here - let it run 4+ hours or so.  <-- best method

MemTestX86 - Test RAM With
http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/14201-memtest86-test-ram.html

For the Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool.

Type in Cortana's search box ->  Windows Memory Diagnostics at top of list - click it. in Windows 8/8.1/10 the name is "Windows Memory
Diagnostic".

After doing ALL the updates you can, and if the issue continues, then run Driver Verifier. (Remember to use the Windows 10 methods posted at the top of the original reply above.)

If DriverVerifier creates a minidump upload it and post the link here so we can analyze it.

Hope this helps.

Thank you, the driver was the issue. To anyone else possibly having the same issue:

If you have an RT-N56U router from ASUS and connect to your printer through the router then the ASUS printer utility will install an old driver from Eltima. I tried to update this driver through the Eltima website but it didn't fix the problem so I uninstalled the printer utility; which uninstalled vuhub.sys. No longer getting blue screens. Unfortunately I'll have to find a work around to access my printer or wait until ASUS fixes it if they ever do.

Nathannnnnnnnnnnnn, sorry didn't count the "n".

I know that this is an older post, there were several things that caught my eye on this, 1), THE TITLE, EXACTLY WHAT I COULDN'T REMEMBER.

2) Was this entry:   Have you added any hardware lately? Have you updated any driver just before
these started? (Check Control Panel - Windows Updates to see if any drivers
were updated there about the time this started) Main likely culprits are Video
driver, other major drivers, memory, and antivirus/antispyware/security products

3) Was your entry:    If you have an RT-N56U router from ASUS and connect to your printer through the router then the ASUS printer utility will install an old driver from Eltima.

I have an RT-N66R router, so I followed what you did and viola, no more blue screen.  As everyone knows that has had this, you have to be really quick and then sometimes still can't on.  I learnt from another experience that I had that if you are fotunate enough to get to the sign in screen, if you hit the shift key along with the restart with you mouse, it will take you to options.  If I hadn't read what you did, by uninstalling the print utilities, I'd still be saying, come on, come on and as quickly clicking keys.

I am only saying all this, is because, 2 years later and people are still having this problem.  So maybe this could be put in an updated posts?

Nathan, Thank You!!!!!!

Hi Steven and Flo,

I had a notification come up about your response and just wanted to say thanks for saying thanks! It did brighten my day. I'm sad this post is still required and the issue hasn't been resolved. But I'm happy it's still helping others out there save on frustration as we edged ever closer to tossing our computers and swearing off windows for good. Still no other issues years later though so I guess it's forgiven in my case.

You're welcome!

P.S. Also, I checked and you nailed the number of n's, good guess!
