Windows 10 Missing and greyed out volume icon fix!

Since there are several different post about this issue it would be for me to post to them all with a fix. So I will make one post here.

1. Left click on windows icon and choose settings.

2. Click on display tab.

3. Change the size of text to 125% Then apply.

4. DO NOT LOG OUT YET.  Choose sign out later!

5. Change the text size back to 100% and click apply.

6. Now sign out and sign back in.

Your volume icon will be back. =)

Here is how to do it in registry.

step 1: Launch the registry, (press windows key + R), then (type in REGEDIT)

step 2: Go TO "HKEY_CURRENT_USER>

  • >Software
  • >Classes
  • >Local Settings
  • >Software
  • >Microsoft
  • >Windows
  • >CurrentVersion
  • >TrayNotify"

Step 3: Find iconstreams and PastIconStream

Step 4: right click on those and choose "delete"

IF you are unsure of what you are to delete, choose copy then paste it on your desktop to backup those registry files.

Please let me know if this did the trick for you.
