WINDOWS 10 going to sleep randomly

cromanow89 asked on

This has been a very frustrating issue for me. I'm running my current PC as a media server and need it to be running all the time.

Current setup:

updated to windows 10 from win7 pro

Toshiba Laptop in docking station

Closed lid

hooked up to external monitor.

I went through all the power options, selected NEVER for sleep, shut down lid, and all the power options. Set under high performance. Only to manually shut down.

It goes to sleep and pops up the login screen. I even unchecked the "password required" box for the screen saver. I never had this problem with win7. It even fell asleep while writing this post when I left to let the dog out.

Additional note, I timed it and it's 2 minutes before it goes to sleep. Any assistance would help! I searched all the forums and they all say the same thing regarding the power options. I need something new!

Thanks in advance!

Tried that and it does not resolve the problem. Seems to happen when there's an application running.

If I have the browser window up, it will sleep after 2 minutes. If I have no windows up, it will not go to sleep
