Video playback

Hi, my laptop recently crashed whilst playing video and now most of the time when playing video, be it using Google Chrome, Windows media player or even the video in the video playback settings, the red and green will be desaturated leaving mostly just the blue, dose not happen all the time as some Youtube videos have been fine. Thank you.

Turn off the Automatically process video to enhance it and see what happens, also what helps if you post some info about your system.

I've also tried the troubleshooter and turning off the Automatically process video to enhance it and it unfortunately hasn't worked, thank you both though.

Thanks for the update. I would like to know if the zooming of videos occurs on a single web browser or regardless of which web browser that you use?

Let's try to enable/disable the Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering option in Internet Properties and see if the issue will persist. To do this, please follow the steps below:

  1. Type-in internet options in Cortana.
  2. Click on the Advanced tab.
  3. Under Accelerated graphics, tick on the check box beside Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering option to enable or disable it.

If you continue to have this issue even after performing the above steps, please reply to this thread. The system will notify me so I can get back to you and provide you more answers.

Apologies for the delay in response. Can I verify if the option to Optimize video quality is set on When playing video option? You can check for this setting by typing edit power plan in Cortana. Click on Change advanced power settings. In Power Options, look for Multimedia settings then click on the plus (+) icon to expand. Click on + beside When playing video. Click on Setting and set it to Optimize video quality.

No worries Gerald. It seems it was already set to that, I've tried the other settings also with turning the laptop off and on and still no luck unfortunately. Thank you.

It could be possible that your graphics adapter might be causing the issue and to remove the possibility you may boot your computer in Safe Mode with Networking and see if the issue will persist. Click on this link on how to Start your PC in safe mode in Windows 10. Afterwards try to play a video from Facebook or Youtube and check if there will be any improvement on the issue.

If you continue to have this issue even after performing the above steps, please reply to this thread. The system will notify me so I can get back to you and provide you more answers.
