Remove Bing from Microsoft Edge

How can I remove Bing from Microsoft Edge or from my computer entirely?

Hi Bonnie,

Bing is design to work with Microsoft Edge and cannot be removed. Do you just want to change the default search engine used on Microsoft Edge? If yes, follow the steps below on how to change the default search engine on Microsoft Edge:

  1. Open Microsoft Edge.
  2. Click the "..." icon at the upper right hand of the window and select Settings.
  3. Select View advanced settings.
  4. Select Change search engine.
  5. Select a different search engine and Set as default.

I have done the above, but when I open Microsoft Edge, I still get the Bing search bar, even though settings say Google is my search engine.  The Bing search bar really wants a web address, so if you are searching for something it says it can't find it and then asks if you want to search, thus adding an extra step every time you search.  I hate it and from the comments and questions I have seen on this forum, I am not the only one.  I dislike it so much, I usually use Explorer instead, but apparently Edge is my default browser when ever I open something from an email.  Can I change that?

Microsoft Edge's search bar is by design. We can change your default browser instead, follow the steps below and see if it helps:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Click on System.
  3. Choose Default apps.
  4. Choose your browser under Web browser. (See the image for your reference.)

Update us on the result.
