how do i turn off parental controls without the password because of family not being here?

i have a family member who set up the parental controls and i am now old enough so that my mum says that she is happy for me to have them off apart from we no longer have contact to the family member and i need them off to be able to download and get apps for my exams which are coming this year which is getting in the way but i also need to keep all my apps and files without damaging anything on the computer. if help is available i would be very greatful and would like to get some help. thanks in advance.

Hi Ellis. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

You'll have to have your parents do this in the Microsoft Account.

However if you are the Administrator on the PC you can change from a Microsoft Account to a Local Account and remove these restrictions: http://www.zdnet.com/article/windows-10-tip-swi...

You can then reassociate the Microsoft Account on the PC later after the changes are made, or create and add a new Microsoft Account for yourself.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
