Command Prompt Name Change

Hi,

May I ask if anyone knows how to change the "Test Account" name below?

My first login to my hp notebook(Windows 10) asked for a local account and I entered "Test Account", for the thought of it'll be change automatically when I rename the computer name. But it did not, I've changed the name of the computer, however, the command prompt is still showing the test account name.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Regards,

Prime

While you can change your user name in Windows 10, the folder name will not change. There are registry hacks that will do this for you, but can cause issues with software not working

Your best option is:

  1. Go to the Settings App - Accounts - Add Someone Else to this PC
  2. Create another account with admin privileges from there
  3. Log out, sign into the new account and delete the old account

Yes, you have to copy them all over to the new account, if you do not have a backup, before deleting the old account, otherwise you will loose them . . .
