Windows 10 (English) system text show as gibberish

Start menu is fine, but all the system text is gibberish. I want to delete all my font, but I can't read the menu. (I have Chinese and English font instead in this computer, it was fine (for a few days) when I first installed them)

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.

Did you made any changes on your PC?

Try with the below mentioned steps and check if it helps.

Method 1:

Change Language settings through Control Panel.

  • Type Control Panel into the search bar on desktop and select the same from the list.
  • Click on Clock, Language, and Region.
  • Click Region, then go to Administrative tab.
  • Make sure that English (United States) is displayed under Current language for non-Unicode programs or as per your region. If not change it to the same. If it ask to reboot your PC, do the same.

Now check if it return back to normal language. If incase you need to make changes to the font and restore it to default, then follow with the below steps.

Method 2:

If an app or update that you recently installed caused problems with your PC, you can restore Windows back to an earlier point in time, called a restore point. System Restore doesn’t change your personal files, but it might remove recently installed apps and drivers.

Note: Windows automatically creates a restore point when you install desktop apps and new Windows updates, if the last restore point is older than 7 days. You can also create a restore point manually at any time.

To restore your PC to an earlier point in time

* Press Windows Key + R to open run command

* Type rstrui and hit Enter key.

* Select Recommended Restore or any other restore point and click Next

* Follow the instructions to restore your PC to earlier and see if it helps.

Hi, RotemSharvit, Amir jkby:

The issue shown in the screenshote above appears to be an instance of the issue reported in the All Fonts are Missing topic. That should have been fixed in the 1511 or 1607 update, so I wouldn't expect it to occur in the Creators Update. Are you sure this is the issue you're seeing?

They may look similar at first glance, but they are actually very different -- both in root cause, trigger event, and effect. (The issue above occurred, for most cases I know of, after copying the Avenir Next fonts from a Mac to Windows.)

At any rate, if your issue is the same as in the "Gibberish in some apps" topic, then please follow up as needed in that topic.

The same Font gibberish happen to me after the Creator update.

My solution after a 1 hour or so troubleshooting, was to reinstalled my Comodo firewall with an updated version of my firewall.

You should uninstall or update Comodo firewall before or after the Creator update.

Here is a Link to another possible fix for the Font gibberish symptom.

Hi, Revant Varde

What build of Windows 10 are you running? (You can get that by running winver in the Run dialog, Win+R.) When did the symptom appear? Do you know what changes might have been made before that?

Are your symptoms like what is shown in the image that Elejunior provided at the start of this topic? Or are they more like what is show on this page? Or something else?

If your symptoms are like what is shown in the screenshot above, that would point to the issue reported in the All Fonts are Missingtopic. That should have been fixed in the 1511 or 1607 update, and I wouldn't expect it to occur in the Creators Update or Fall Creators Update.
