OptInt.dll failed to register, Error 1904 on Windows 10

Hi,

I have observed that there is a similar question about windows 7, but I didn't succeed trying those steps. I'm trying to install a software called MassLynx, used by chemicals, in windows 10. At the end of the installation, I receive the message: Error 1904.Module C:\MassLynx\PDACalib\OptInt.dll failed to register. I also get this same message for other three files, two of them being .dll and one of them being .ocx. All of them are in the same directory: C:\MassLynx

I appreciate a lot if you could help me.

Regards,

Júlia

Hi Julia,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community and being a part of Windows 10.

I understand the inconvenience you are facing in installing the software on your device. Do not worry we will help you with this issue.

This might be an issues with the corrupted/ missing system files. Try the below troubleshooting steps and check if it helps.

Method 1: I suggest you to run SFC scan and check if it helps.

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files. If a Windows Resource Protection (WRP) file is missing or is corrupted, Windows may not behave as expected.

Follow the below steps:

  1. Press CTRL+Shift+ESC, to open the Task manager.
  2. Click File > Run New Task.
  3. Make sure you have a check mark beside “Create this task with administrative privileges
  4. Type CMD.
  5. Type “sfc /scannow” without the quotes and hit Enter.
  6. After the scan, restart the computer and check for the issue.

Note: If you are not able to repair some files after performing SFC scan, I suggest you to refer to the point 3 “Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log %WinDir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log”. Under the section “Run the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe)” to repair the corrupted files after performing SFC scan.

Refer: Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files

Method 2: If the issue still persists, I suggest you to run DISM or System Update Readiness tool and check.

The DISM or System Update Readiness tool may help you to fix some Windows corruption errors.

Fix Windows corruption errors by using the DISM or System Update Readiness tool

Hope it helps. Perform the above methods and update the status of this issue, we will be happy to help you further.

Hi,

I have the same problem with Júlia Rossi Diniz and I have already tried all of above methods, but it doesn't work. When I have finished the installation ignoring these errors, it will occur "microsoft visual c++ runtime library  run time error! abnormal program termination".

I have spent 2 days for this problem, but nothing works.

I appreciate a lot if you have another methods to solve it!

Thanks,

Zhang

Do you use a SSD as your system disk? The problem may be the software can not adjust well to your SSD. You can try to use a HDD as your system disk and retry to install masslynx. This mehod requires you to reinstall your system.

Open the command prompt then run the following command:

cd C:\MassLynx\PDAcalib\

Then run the following command:

regsvr32 OptInt.dll

A window should pop up saying "DllregisterServer in OptInt.dll succeeded"
