Windows 10 ver 1803 Network File Sharing is Not Working

I have a total of 4 PCs on my home network. I've upgraded 3 out of my 4 Win 10 pc's to ver 1803, including applying the latest update for that version, KB4103721.

Here is my problem:

When I click on Network in file explorer:

1 PC sees all 4 PCs on my network

2 PCs only see the 1 PC on my network which has NOT been upgraded to ver 1803 (it is downloading/installing the upgrade to version 1803 on that last PC as I type)

I've checked the advanced network settings on all of the PCs in control panel and all are set to Private Network and to allow other PCs to recognize it and to allow file sharing. I even removed password protection thinking that might help, it did not.

Why can't 2 out of the 3 PCs on my network recognize the other computers on the network? I didn't have this problem at all with the last version of Windows 10, so I am out of answers.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Marilyn. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

There are problems with broken File Sharing in Version 1803 which MVP's are actively elevating now to developers.

For now here are some fixes that are reported to work: https://windowsunplugged.blog/2018/03/27/networ...

This is another fix that's working for Version 1803 breaking networks. Please try it and report back:

- shut all computer and network gear down then start again.
- Try browsing to some of the computers manually, press Windows key + R, type: \\computername, hit Enter
- Press Windows key + R
Type: services.msc
Hit Enter

1. Start the "Function Discovery Provider Host" and "Function Discovery Resource Publication" services, and then set them to Automatic (Delayed Start).
2. When you open Explorer Network, enable network discovery when you are prompted.

If not then start over and set it up again: https://pureinfotech.com/setup-network-file-sha...

If it still fails go over these troubleshooting steps: https://www.lifewire.com/troubleshooting-window...

If you want to report this to Microsoft use the Feedback Hub app in Start Menu where developers are tasked to process consumer feedback. But Microsoft will not even see it here because this is a tech forums where we are mostly volunteers trying to help solve your problems.

If you want to post back a share link to your Feedback others who find this thread may add to it or vote it up, and I will try to elevate it to get priority attention.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
