Slow wifi after latest major Windows 10 update

Hi,

Since the major Windows 10 update, my wifi download and upload speed is much slower (tested ~5mbps download on wireless compared to 100mbps with ethernet cable plugged in). I have tried updating the wireless card driver, but it says it is up to date. I get the same speed results using different browsers (Firefox and Edge). Judging by previous comments I guess this is a problem with the Realtek wireless card driver. Details are:

- Windows 10 Home  version 1511

-Realtek RTL8191SE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC

- No antivirus or firewall running except Windows Defender

Any suggestions much appreciated

Thanks

Jason

Hi Asteele,

Since the driver has been malfunctioning after the update, I suggest you to perform a Driver Roll Back so that the driver goes back to the previous (working) state.

Steps:-

1.     Press “Windows + X” and select Device manager.

2.     Select Wireless Adapter and expand the driver icon.

3.     Right click on the driver icon and click on Properties.

4.     Go to Driver tab.

5.     Select Roll Back Driver.

Later, try the steps provided by Rohit Chettri in the below thread link to block the updates for that specific driver.
