Network connections not visible after KB3124263 Update

Two separate Windows 10 boxes were updated today.  They have no visible computers (including themselves) on the LAN network.  Windows 7 box still sees them and mapped network drives work.

I am unable to turn on the file and print sharing button, ie. I can click on it and save changes, but it reverts back to off.  I have been scouring the forum to find a resolution but nothing yet.

I have managed to view the other terminals by messing with the Samba settings as mentioned in the forums, but the computers become visible, but no connection is possible.

I have tried adding user accounts, and other assorted recommended fixes with no success.

I tried resetting Winsock as well...no luck

I  tried system restore....same thing.

What do I have to do to get things running, and when will I be able to turn of these updates without setting things to a metered connection which messes up other software?

Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused to you. I’ll certainly help you with this.

  1. What is the make and model of the computer?
  2. Have you set up a HomeGroup Network?

It's possible that your network adapter is outdated. Let's try the following methods and check.

Method 1: Update the network adapters.

Please refer this article by one of the Community Moderator, Andre Da Costa on “How to: Install and Update drivers in Windows 10”.

If the issue persist, continue with method 2.

Method 2: Uninstall the Windows Update that is causing issue.

  1. Press Windows key + I and click on Update and Recovery.

  2. Under Windows Update tab, click on Advanced options.

  3. Click on View update history and check if KB3124263 update is installed.

  4. If yes, click on Uninstall Updates and remove KB3124263 update.

After uninstalling the update, check if the issue persist. If the issue is resolved, then I suggest you to temporarily prevent the Windows update from re-installing. To do so, refer the following Help article.

Custom built Corsair with i74790K @4.00GHz, 32GB Ram, 64bit, SSD drive. Killer e200 GB Ethernert

System 2:

ASUS M32AD with i54460 @ 3.2 GHz, 12GB Ram, Intel Ethernet l217-V

Network drivers are up to date on both systems, and were not changed before or after issue.

No Homegroup has been set up.  Using ASUS RT-AC68U router to a broadband static IP modem.

I tried uninstalling the update yet the issue persists.

Only Windows 10 systems are affected.  Windows 7 laptop sees the whole network.
