Linksys WUSB600N adapter: Windows 10 installs wrong driver

Windows 10 installs a wrong driver for my Linksys WUSB600N Wireless-N USB Adapter

 - The Windows 10 installed driver is MediaTek 5.1.16.0.
 - A correct driver is Linksys 3.2.1.0 (Ralink).

Problem description: The MediaTek driver does not get all SSID and does not get the 5G band.

The Linksys 3.2.1.0 is OK and the adapter works fine again.

(You can download it at the Linksys support site. If Windows 10 is not shown then choose Vista64/32)

There are no downloads on the support site. Can you recommend somewhere else to find it?

You can download the driver from this website and forcibly use it to replace the MediaTek Driver. Worked for me.

You can also find the driver on the Linksys site:

http://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=148573

or if not available try another Linksys site:

http://www.linksys.com/nl/support-article?articleNum=148573

Please note that there are two versions for WUSB600N.

If no version is on the device, then it is version 1.

This does not work, no matter how you try to apply the downloaded driver windows always insists "the latest driver for your device is already installed"

Update driver responds this way... add device responds this way....

Can you suggest how exactly you were able to replace the driver please as at the moment I am stuck connecting as G when I am used to having a very clean N connection.

This is how to force the driver update by using "Have Disk":

Open Device Manager
Right click on wireless network adapter and choose Properties
Driver TAB and click Update driver
Select Browse my computer for driver software
Choose let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
Select the proper wireless adapter
Now CLICK on HAVE DISK...
Browse to your 3.2.1 driver folder, select the inf file and click Next

Thank you so much !

For those with N networks you may also need to edit the adapter settings and enable the setting called

"Adhoc support 802.11n"

Awesome back on fast wifi after the win10 default driver fail!

This helped a ton, I was having trouble with Steam doing some random download then pause and schedule install loop on downloading games. Even though speed is a bit lower to what I am used to its now stable and solid download rate which beats the inconsistent download rate I was getting.

By doing this I was able to get around solid 3.5MB/s download on wi-fi adapter.

I was having the same issues and was able to change drivers, see the 5Ghz band, etc.

I do notice that the 5G is only about half as strong as the 2.4Ghz band.

All my other devices get full signal on 5G.

Are there any other settings on the PC that can boost that signal?

It isn't a location issue for the WUSB600N.

Thanks
