WPS on Windows 10

My router supports WPS connections (I have been able to connect to it via WPS on my tablet).

However my recently upgraded Windows 10 laptop doesn't display the option to connect via WPS.

How it should look:

The text saying you can also connect via the button is not there.

I have tried pressing it anyway and it does not work.

WPS did work when my laptop was still running Windows 7.

I have to use WPS, and WPA2 passwords are not a possibility.

Thanks for your advice. I had problem downloading the software you suggested but I managed to solve my problem by modifying the security mode so now I am able to connect now.

Thanks for trying to help anyway.

Regards,

Rather than having to download third-party software, I read in an article what I needed to do to solve this problem:

Basically, you have to have pushed the button on your router first and then try to connect to the wireless network. The computer will sense the WPS and offer the option to connect that way rather than the security key. I tried it and it worked for me.

Go to the Action Center, click Network, select the network you want to connect to. When it prompts you to enter the WEP key, go to your modem or router and press the WPS button. It should then automatically connect to internet.

I tried pressing the WPS button before attempting to connect to the router and I tried pressing the WPS button when prompted.  Neither sequence worked.  The following message appeared in both cases:  "Windows can't get settings automatically.  Enter the security key instead."

Is there a difference between connecting using the WPS button and connecting using the security key?  Is one way better than the other?  I have read that WPS is easy to hack.  Should it be avoided?
