Microsoft Edge keeps logging me out of my accounts.

Every several minutes(I haven't really measured the time) I keep getting logged out of my accounts. In fact, I don't even notice when it happens.

One minute, I'm fine, next, I try to like/post a comment on YouTube or go to my Gmail account, and it asks me to sign in.

It's not just YouTube, either. I tried on other websites, and it's the same.

What could be the problem? I suspect it has something to do with cookies/cache, but I'm not sure. It started today, just a few hours ago. I think I changed something important in the settings concerning the browser, but I don't really remember what. Sorry for my stupid memory :)

Update:

I noticed that when I open a YouTube video in a new tab, the new tab is logged out, while the original remains logged in. In case it's important.

I have the same problem. It only happens with the apps I have installed using Windows 10. It does not happen when I enter the same sites using Google Chrome - like YouTube, Candy Crush, The Economist.

Hi Tricia,

Which build are you currently in?

I would suggest you to check your PC for updates and install all updates both critical and optional. Restart PC if necessary.

Also run the inbuilt Windows app troubleshooter and check if it fixes the issue.

Steps to run the troubleshooter:

  1. Type troubleshooting in the search bar.
  2.  Click view all in the left panel.
  3. Select ‘Windows app ' and follow the on-screen instructions.

Hope this helps. Get back to us with the results. We are happy to help!

Thanks & Regards
Joy

Hello,

The suggestion you provided did not help. I still keep getting logged out every time I open a new tab.

Sincerely,

Ranishka

I don't know what build I am in.

When I ran the troubleshooter on my Windows app, it said that it could not detect any problem.

Hello,

Same here. When I ran troubleshooter it said it fixed some components from the update app. However, I still keep getting logged out of every page I go to when click on something or open a page in a new tab.

Joy, is there any fix to this?

EDIT: Also, I was having this problem before the update I just received which got Cortana working, which also doesn't work.

Sincerely,

Ranishka

Hello,

I completely reset my PC keeping all my old files and that seemed to work.

Hopefully Microsoft comes up with a patch to fix this. I can see how annoying this would be to someone that just doesn't have resetting your PC as an option.

Sincerely,

Ranishka

I have had the same issue for quite some time, and even performing a hard reset on Edge (uninstalling and reinstalling the package) hasn't helped. I've been forced to ditch Edge for the time being as a result. Not a particularly-satisfied customer.

Same problem here. Oddly it is isolated only to my account on this computer and not the others.

Same problem here. Just started today. When I try to log back into my account, it seldom works, and most of the time redirects me to a Google Help page which instructs me to clear my web browser cache and cookie data. I followed the instructions, and it didn't fix anything. For now, I'm just having to use Chrome, which has horrible YouTube play quality for me, and it really sucks. Hopefully somebody can figure out a way to fix this besides a computer reset. :/
