Windows 10 Anniversary Update broke keyboard functionality in Edge browser

I recently upgraded my Surface Pro 3 to the Anniversary Update of Windows 10 and now the keyboard will not function in the Edge browser any more.  I had other keyboard issues on other machines in conjunction with Webroot which would cause an instantaneous blue screen any time a key is hit.  However, this doesn't seem to be the problem on the SP3.  To be clear, I can use the keyboard in every other app I've tried, like Chrome, Notepad, Word and Outlook.  The on screen keyboard also displays the same behavior: hitting a key does not correspond to the key being displayed on the screen, just in Edge.

Any ideas?
