After install of the Anniversary update I cannot access my WD passport, the file system changed from NTFS to RAW! what happened and how do I fix it? I moved it to another PC to retrieve my files, and it's working fine on that one running previous version of Windows 10.

For your information:

with these new windows updates yesterday (KB3176934 and KB3176936) and after testing myself

- the problem with the external HDs recognized as RAW is NOT fixed

What has been fixed (i dont know which update did it) is the recognizing of the KOBO AURA ebook Reader i have... perhaps also an older one some days ago did that! Calibre and the KOBO is working fine again!

Kind regards!

Thanks for the information. Unfortunately, the Defer Updates function is only available in the Pro version of Windows 10 and I have the Home version. I haven't been able to find anyway to stop my version from just reupdating when it wants to. I was hoping that once i rolled back that OS build updates would stop, but no such luck in my case.

There's not much else the community can do than offer suggestions.

Good luck!

I don't mean to sound salty, but that acknowledgement was made almost 2 weeks ago.  People are still having issues with this.

At the end of the statement Sharath Srinivasa (the author of the post) tells us to check back on that thread for updates.  Did Microsoft **** something up so bad that they neglected to provide an update on their progress?

Agreed. Thanks for the link so that I could subscribe in case there are any updates, but the lack of updates has been pretty frustrating to say the least. Not being able to access my data or back up my systems, and having no confidence in purchasing a new drive to do this or reformatting my current drive is making me a bit nuts. I haven't heard anything back since I posted my system and drive test results over two weeks ago.

I think they`re are doing it like they told us: "when it`s ready, we will let you know..."

seems its not that trivial...

But i agree with you that they could let us know WHEN aprox. the patch will be released...

perhaps someone could ask them for a ETA for that patch? :-)

TEMc,

A few questions:

1. Is the problem disk (showing inaccessible/RAW) still plugged in into the machine when it was rolled back?

2. When you had rolled back, and you had connected your drive, is all data accessible fine to you

So can you roll back and connect the drive and check this out for me please?

Thanks!

The update KB3176934 you got yesterday does not have a fix for the RAW or inaccessible disk drives. It does have a fix where some of the wearable devices, mp3 players, etc that were not being detected earlier. The fix for the disk drives is not yet released. We are working on it, please stay tuned.
