Having the same issue with my WD My Passport Ultra 1TB. Disc management recognizes it as RAW and can't have access to it. All that after the update! Do something quick please!

Same here... I have a cowon s9 that was working fine with windows 10 before the anniversary upgrade. Now when I plug it in, I get the suggestion that I need to install a disc in this drive, which is quite impossible. It shows up in device manager fine and says its working correctly. Under my computer, just shows up as a drive letter and cannot be opened. It still works fine on my windows 7 machine. Please advise me when a solution is available. Thanks. My other usb and external hard drives seem to be working normally.

@BB-19 and RICHARD LEONTE Jr - please do not format your disks.

You will lose all your data if you format it.

Please help us gather additional information about the disk and partitions so we can troubleshoot it more.

BB-19 - I will contact you on reddit PM.

Richard, I will ask someone to get in touch with you.

Please bear with us while we work this out.

Mahesh

I'd appreciate some help too.

Several external usb hard drives. The one mainly tested is an NTFS-formatted portable USB hard drive, Seagate branded.

On two completely different machines both running Windows 10 1607 (anniversary update) the usb drive: appears as RAW in diskmgmt.msc; is inaccessible through through explorer; can't CD into the drive in CMD; chkdsk tells me the drive is NTFS formatted, there's ~46000 files on it, and there are no errors (including no bad clustors).

When I plug the same drive into my Ubuntu 16.0.1 PC, it mounts fine, is detected as NTFS, and I can access all the files.

PLEASE post a LINK to this subject on "reddit"........THANKS!

I am not sending my Fantom USB3 EXT HDD back to them for repairs - as they suggest.  IT is NOT the Drive, as is apparent by reading about so many more of you unsable to use your drives after Installing 1607.

It also removed my Printer Drivers and TURNS OFF ability to use a Restore Point!

If I open Disk Management w/o turning on my Ext. HDD - I SEE my 2 Internal Drives NTFS etc......OK, TURN ON the External Drive and the Disk Management contents - DISAPPEAR.

IF I Open "This PC" I SEE all 3 HDD's.

I updated my Surface Book to the Anniversary Edition and now my Western Digital Ultra external drive is not accessible as well. Microsoft Tech Support initially told me that the problem was the Western Digital Driver and I needed to contact them. I contacted Western Digital  and they told me that the problem is a Microsoft issue.  I've had to resort to using my old Windows 7 machine to access engineering data  for work.. What the f#$%!!!!

Hi,

I have the same issue with my Seagate 2TB external hard disk after Windows10 AU.

And I'm able to use USB pen drives without any issue.

Thanks,

Gopi
