SD card driver

I have a 64 bit system with Windows 10. Computer does not "see" an SD card.... checked Device Manager and find the installed driver is generic device for 32 bit system, Ver 10.0.16299.371, signer Microsoft Windows.  Why is 32bit driver on 64 bit system?  Is that why it no longer finds card.  It used to work

Where in Device Manager does it show 32 bit? Could you post a screenshot?

As far as I know, 32 bit drivers do not work in Windows 10 64 bit.

What is the exact make and model?

Open Start, type: system information
Hit Enter
Click System summary
Look in the right pane

Copy the system sku info into reply here.

Hi Juanita. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

Update your SD card driver from the PC's Support Downloads web page, using the full model number, Serial Number or Dell Service Tag on sticker. Compare the latest drivers available for download with the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu. Download and install the latest.

Make sure you also have the latest BIOS, Chipset, Display (Video), Sound, USB3, Bluetooth, Network and all other drivers, or else download and install the latest now.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

I don't know how to do screenshots.  Here is how I found it:

open Device Manager,

click Disk Drives,

click SD/MMC USB Device,

click Driver,

click Driver Details
I don't know about a lot of the info I found, but know that I have a 64bit system and was suprised to see a 32bit driver.  I wondered if Windows updates could have changed something 'cause SD card used to show up in Control Panel and I could put photos on hard drive.  SD card no longer shows up in Control Panel and I have made no changes except to ad a printer several months ago.

My computer is Micro Electronics, PowerSpec model B351`, Intel Core i3-2100, CPU@ 3.10GHz, 4GB Ram, 64bit OS x 64based processor.

I don't have a Dell computer, it's a Micro Electronics PowerSpec model B351.  Did not see driver downloads on their support page.  The driver is Generic and says provided by Microsoft.

You lost me with BIOS, chipset, etc., etc..........

Hi again Juanita.

No newer drivers than Windows 8.1 on the PowerSpec Support Downloads web page here.

Choose the SD device in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start button,
On Driver tab choose Update Driver, then Automatic.

If no newer driver found, next try the Roll Back driver button. If unavailable try Uninstall button, restart PC to reinstall.

Report back results.

I am going to recommend you go back to Windows 7. What I have realized over the past couple years since Windows 10 launched in 2015; anything pre-September 2013 doesn't work well with it.

Step 1: You need to download the install files for Windows 7 if you are reinstalling it on a system where it was previously installed. You can use the following resources:

Microsoft Windows and Office ISO Download Tool – HeiDoc.net
http://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science...

https://tb.rg-adguard.net/index.php?sid=74a7cf5...

Step 2: Make a bootable copy:

How to Prepare Bootable Install Media for Windows - DVD, USB or SD Card
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wik...

Step 3: Download any necessary drivers you might need for Windows 7 from the manufacturers website.

Step 4: Perform a custom install - see the Windows 7 section of the following article how to do that:

How to: Perform a custom installation of Windows
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/wiki...

Step 5: how find your product key and reactivate:

Windows 7 came preinstalled on my computer, how do I find the product key?

The product key is usually located on the COA sticker attached to the bottom of your laptop or in the battery compartment. In some rare cases it can also be found in the memory compartment. For tower systems, look at the top or the side of the system unit. It looks like the following:

If the Certificate of Authenticity (COA) sticker is damaged or letters or not legible, you will have to consider the following options:

Use a digital camera to capture a picture of the COA then enlarge it on your computer.
If the COA sticker is damaged, then you would need to use the recovery partition to reinstall Windows 7, this will exempt the need to use the product key to activate your Windows 7 installation.
If your recovery partition is not available or damaged, you should contact the manufacturer http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=... of your computer and request a recovery disc set you can use to reinstall Windows 7. They might charge a small shipping and handling fee. This will exempt the need to use the product key also.

I bought a retail box copy of Windows 7 or Windows 8 or Windows 8.1; where do I find the product key?

For Windows 7, the product key can be located on a pamphlet in inside the Windows 7 box.
