Remove Loudness Equalization windows 10

I have a Realtek integrated sound card on my laptop , running the latest driver version. I experience loudness equalisation (The bass seems to quiet down even when I crank up the volume) there was a time when this never happened. not sure what changed. The loudness equalisation is really bad since it caps off some good bass hits on my headphones.

How can I remove this effect, some reg hack or something. Plus I have checked the playback options tab: the enhancements tab is missing + the telephone call setting is set to do nothing.

I have also tried the default High Definition Audio device, the loudness equalisation is much worse. I have used loudness equalisation to describe the effect above but I might not be entirely sure i am using the right term, might be audio compression.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Answer

I had a similar issue as BobKimani.

Terrible 'Loudness Equalization' and no way to turn it off (no Enhancements tab).

I fixed it by uninstalling a third-party driver.

In my case it was "IDT audio", for a Realtek card it will probably be some Realtek tool.

(You'll might be able to find it as a program in "Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features".)

Be aware that Realtek does produce more than just audio chips. So there might network related things.

An other possibility might be to uninstall the driver from the "Device Manager". (It might give you the option to "Delete the driver software for this device".)

Then you can reinstall the device and choose to use a "Generic" driver. Which will give you all the options supplied by Microsoft.

For me, I the names for my audio-devices changed, I lost some
minor configuration options for the 'microphone array' and the mute-led doesn't work anymore. But audio seems to behave properly now.
