MCS9835 -- PCI to Dual Serial and Single Parallel Controller / Windows 10 compatibility

Hello,

Earlier today, we upgraded one of our desktops from Windows 7 to Windows 10.

The Windows 10 installation is flawless, except I immediately realized the "Unusable Parallel Port (LPT3).

I navigated to Moschip and then ASIX Electronics, excited to see the new driver as of 2015-09-09. However, the new x64 driver package did not solve the problem.

Please read the following message from Windows 10 Device Manager:

Device not migrated
Device MF\PCI#VEN_9710&DEV_9835&

Please let us know how to proceed, in order to use MCS9835 with Windows 10.

We will be downgrading to Windows 7 if the issue isn't able to be resolved quickly.

Hi Philadelphia,

Thanks for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

This issue might occur, if the driver for MCS9835 is not compatible with Windows 10.

I suggest you to download the latest driver form the manufacturer’s website and try installing it in compatibility mode and check if it helps.

Refer to the below link to know, how to install a program in compatibility mode.

Note: Applies to Windows 10 as well.

Hope it helps, reply to us with the status of your issue. We will be happy to assist you.

Hello Santosh_Rai,

Thank you very much for the prompt reply. However, the issue remains unresolved, even while doing the installation in compatibility mode. The manufacturer also lists the driver as Windows 10 compatible, with the latest revision as 09-09-2015.

Please advise how to proceed. The PCI Bridge is functioning under Windows 7, even after a downgrade from Windows 10.

Hi PhiladelphiaCandies;

The problem is not the PCIe board where the LPT port is, this is a problem with last Windows 10 upgrade as you can see  If you open this link:

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-hardware/windows-10-lpt-parallel-printer-port/29a01285-7c99-4b25-a774-8b90ba6173bb?page=3

Go to a reply on 16th November you'll see instructions with regard to getting the LPT printer port working, at least temporarily.

Hope this will help
