huawei e173 / 633 modem in use error after Creators update

I'm getting the error  633 modem in use while connecting the dongle (E173)

  • What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?
  • Is this the first time that you encountered this problem?
  • Have you tried connecting to a different dongle or WiFi? If so, are you experiencing the same issue?
  • Can you please send us a screenshot with what you are experiencing? Make sure that you remove all the personal information.

When connecting to 3G net

Device is being used or not properly configured (error 633)

Tested on 3 laptops and same problem.Before update works perfectly

This is the error that I'm getting when i'm trying to connect. Also I've tried this dongle with another laptops and it worked (nothing wrong with dongle). 

1). I reinstalled the dongle software

2). I reinstalled the drivers

3). Tried the Different user account

4). changed the COM port 

any of solution didn't work for me ..

I think i will have to do a clean install of windows again ....... 

Please help.

I Have the same problem. i can't connect with my dongle e173 after Creator Update. I tried the same solutions expose here, and nothing. I need a solutions for this case please, beacause i work  with this dongle.

There are several reasons why you are experiencing this problem and that's what we are going to figure out.

To isolate this concern, we suggest that you perform an SFC (System File Checker) scan on the computer to repair any corrupted or missing files. Kindly click on this link and follow the instructions on how to perform the scan. Once done, check if you will still experience the same issue. If so, we suggest that you uninstall and reinstall the said update. Here's how:

  1. Right-click on Start menu.
  2. Select Control Panel.
  3. Click on Programs.
  4. Under Programs and Features, choose View installed updates.
  5. Look for the latest update
  6. Right-click on it.
  7. Click on Uninstall.

Once done, kindly check if you will still experience the same issue.

Please post back with the result for further assistance.

I think best solution for now is the rollback the update or install the previous update (i think windows 10 anniversary update). Nothing mentioned on the thread work for me.

  • Press Win+R and type regedit.
  • Choose HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RasMan.
  • Find key RequiredPrivileges and doubleclick on it
  • Into Value field add at the end keaword SeLoadDriverPrivilege and click OK
  • On Warning message click OK
  • Restart PC
