HP Truevision HD Camera Not Working

My HP Truevision HD Camera is not working. I turn on the "Camera" App and the camera light turns on but the screen is pitch black. I open the Cyberlink YouCam app and it displays the following warning "YouCam cannot connect to your webcam (HP Truevision HD). I have tried the following steps to no avail:

1. Ensured I have the most up to date driver

2. Uninstalled camera via device manager and restarted the computer

3. I have turned off my McAfee Firewall and tried the camera again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello steviegreenway,

I'm John an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I want to apologize if you encountered this issue. I understand you have a problem with your laptop camera. When was the last time the camera was working? Did you made any changes recently? What is the make and model of your device? What is your current windows version and edition? Press WIN+I, select System then About.

Some laptops have a privacy switch or a camera shutter key that can be used to turn off your webcam and prevent it from being used.

Camera Privacy Switch located at the right side of the laptop

Camera Shutter Key located on the keyboard

Please try to press FN+F6 or F10. or try other F key combinations.

Press Start then search command prompt
Right click then run as administrator (note: try to disable translation to see the correct command)
type: msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic
Run the troubleshooter
Restart your PC

Step 1. Give your apps permission
If you recently updated Windows 10, you might need to give apps permission to use the camera. In newer versions of Windows 10, some apps don’t have default access to the camera.

If your HP Truevision HD camera is not working, it seems to me that the logical step is to contact HP. They owe you a working camera, right?

Go to McAfee and get their removal software and completely remove it.

You only need Windows Security and Malwarebytes.

Other 3rd party antivirus disrupt Windows 10 most of the time.
