Installation always stalls with the final window that says:

1. connect USB cable

2. switch printer on

3. wait for installation to continue

Never continues, so I have to cancel setup.

I have followed the instructions from Brother when I have inquired how to set up the MFX-7360n.  After talking with Office Max (where I purchased the computer) I feel it's the drivers installed.  So I've tried uninstalling those.  That doesn't help.  Right now I have installed the "latest drivers" that goes something like this Y10-E-C2gd264Dz.EXE. (was encouraged because I noticed the 64 bit in there)  Still doesn't work.  Somewhere someone said it's the firmware.  Almost got hooked by a scammer to do that one.

Two options:  1. keep the huge printer/scanner as a copier only and use the HP Envy (on Wi-Fi) that actually works.   2. Hire a senior citizen computer whiz here in town that will come to my house to see if he can fix this.  I've been too stubborn to do option 2.

Microsoft:  you really messed up here!   I'm extremely annoyed that I cannot create groups in e-mail on Outlook.  I do not want to go back to Windows Live.  Discovered my older Samsung tablet will allow me to send group e-mails so I'll use it for group e-mails.

But gee, other than that, things are peachy  : )

Hi,

Thank you for the update.

I understand the frustration when things don't work as expected.

The issue may happen if the printer is not compatible with Windows 10. I would request you to contact the printer support(as you did earlier) and tell them to provide the drivers for Windows 10.

Please revert if you face any issues.

A disappointing reply from the Microsoft engineer, putting the blame on Brother, which may be correct, but I don't know.  (Is it the responsibility of Microsoft or Brother to provide drivers that work for each new OS?) I borrowed a computer which had Windows 10 (preinstalled) while mine was in for repairs, and it connected with my Brother 7360N without a hitch. But when I received my own computer back and had to upgrade from Windows 7 to 10 to have it run, this has been the single most difficult issue. Exactly the same story as prairiegal here (carefully uninstalled old drivers), but months later.

I had the exact same problem.  I got on a live chat with Brother and they said the firmware in the printer needed to be updated.  If you press the # and * keys simultaneously the version of firmware will be displayed.  As of Jan 2017, the 1st character (left most) should be a J.  Mine was a G.  Now I could only update the firmware from a PC that was capable of talking to the printer (not my new Windows 10 machine), but luckily I hadn't dismantled the computer that I was replacing. I hooked the printer up to the old computer, updated the firmware, then turned the printer off, connected it to the new computer, restarted the installation program and waited until it got to the screen that asks for the printer to be connected before I turned the printer on.  Worked like a charm.

Thank you for this! I was in the exact situation as you and got the exact results when I updated the 7360N's firmware via my old computer.

Hi,

I got same issue when I had to help someone close to my home for installing the printer MFC 7360n after that he has upgrade his computer from Windows 8 to windows 10.

Solution is:

0: Be sure that you have reset all alerts messages about toner( if you have changed the toner in order to get 100%). other persons treated the topic .

1:  connect the Printer Brother http://support.brother.com/g/b/downloadlist.aspx?c=be&lang=fr&prod=mfc7360n_all&os=135

MFC XXXX to any computer running previous version than windows 10.

2: install the latest Firmware from Official website of Brother company, example : http://support.brother.com/g/b/downloadlist.aspx?c=be&lang=fr&prod=mfc7360n_all&os=135...

3: After installing the latest printer firmware using  computer running any windows previous version than windows 10, Uninstall the failed setup of drivers on the machine with Windows 10(just get uninstall tool Brother official website).

4: Connect the printer to computer running on Windows 10.

5: install the latest Brother printer drivers on machine in step 4.

6: The setup will run successfully.
