Immediately after installing a Belinda USB to VGA adapter and restarting my Lenovo Thinkpad, I got a blue screen of death and ddkmd.sys error (system service exception). How do I fix this?

It may help to look at the minidump files from the blue screen crashes.

Can you zip up the minidump files in the C:\Windows\Minidump folder and make available (provide link) via a public folder on OneDrive or similar site?

Here's a couple of links on using OneDrive (SkyDrive):

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/skydrive/add-photos-files-faq

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/onedrive/share-file-folder

If you have problems zipping the minidump files copy the minidump files to another location such as a folder on the Desktop

Also, you do not necessarily have to zip up the minidump files, you can upload them one at a time

I've got this problem after install driver for USB-2-HDMI device.

Do this for fix this problem

  1. Boot your windows 10 in safe mode.
    • When you boot and got error BSOD about "dkmd.sys" for a few times, Windows will redirect to troubleshooting mode. you will find the way to enter safe mode
    • Or go to see this article : How to enter safe mode Windows 10
  2. Select normal safe mode or safe mode with networking
  3. Start service windows installer (This services cannot start in safe mode)
    • Do this step for start windows installer service in safe mode
    • Run command prompt mode (cmd)
    • If you run normal safe mode type this and enter -> REG ADD "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal\MSIServer" /VE /T REG_SZ /F /D "Service"
    • If you run safe mode with networking type this and enter -> REG ADD "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\Network\MSIServer" /VE /T REG_SZ /F /D "Service"
    • and then start windows installer service by type this and enter -> net start msiserver
  4. Go to Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features
  5. Find your App & Driver which you installed (My case is "Thin2000" from Fresco Logic Inc.)
  6. Uninstall its.
  7. Reboot your computer.
  8. Your problem should be resolved.

I download & install driver newer version of my USB-2-HDMI. Now, its works. No blue screen error.

Goodluck

Thank you so much for these really helpful posts. Just installed the exact same Frescologic USB to VGA on my brand new(!) Surface Pro 4 and had the exact same issues. Thought it was terminal until I came across this post. Surface is now working normally again and new device driver installed and also working normally.  Thanks again - very relieved!!

After I installed a Fresco Logic USB 3.0 to VGA driver on my windows 10 Home Laptop and restarted, I got a BSOD (blue screen of death ) and it couldn't be fixed for some time. I followed the mechanism described above, but it didn't help me much. I couldn't uninstall the driver in safe mode.

At last, I found Revo Uninstaller PRO, installed its trial version on my Laptop and with the help of it, I uninstalled the driver. After reboot, I was amazed!! It worked correctly and it's ok now.

Thanks for your patience.
