Hi,

Since upgrading to win 10, my cd drive has disappeared. I have followed this communities answers and am sure that the problem is with the registry, which values do I clear ?

That registry key looks OK.

If the drive is not showing up in the Device Manager try the following:

Right-click the Start button > Command Prompt (Admin)

Then, at the command prompt type the following ( you can copy and paste) and press "Enter":

reg.exe add "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0" /f /v EnumDevice1 /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001

Restart the computer.

Hi,

Thanks for the interest.

I downloaded the USB version of W10 and did a clean boot. Lo and behold all's well now. Yes I had to load other programs on, but it was worth it. The time spent: about a couple of hours. The USB version is a great idea as new laptop and devises do not have a CD drive.
