cannot detect USB-C port

My Lenovo Yoga 720 has a USB-C display port which worked fine in the last 6 months when I connect it to an external monitor. However it stopped working after I brought the laptop to a long trip. The error message was it cannot be detected due to a failed port reset call. The even log says migration failed due to ambiguous match. (Device USB\VID_0000&PID_0001\5&11322fc4&0&15 was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match.) Please see the screen shot. Can you help? Thanks.

Answer

Hi kuang801,

Getting the error was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match usually appears when an incompatible driver has been installed or trying to be installed on your PC. To work around this problem, please check out the following suggestions:

Suggestion 1: Rollback device driver.

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Double-click on the device for which you want to rollback the driver.
  3. Click the Driver tab and then click Roll back driver.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Suggestion 2: Uninstall device driver.

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Right-click the Unknown USB device and click Uninstall. Make sure to check the box for Delete the driver software for this device.
  3. Restart your computer.

If the issue still persists after doing the above steps, then it would be best to download and install the latest driver software from the device manufacturer's website.

Let us know the result so we can further assist you if needed.

Regards.
