Boost mic volume

Hi everyone.

I recently bought a wireless headset with a mic. I set it up today and the headphones work perfectly well.

My problem is that although the mic works it very low and can barely hear myself. I've tried quite a few different things such as reinstalling the drivers & software ....

My drivers use the Realtek HD Audio Manager and I've tried the levels in that:

And have tried the windows settings for the levels:

And if you look in the playback tab under levels there is a mic db level:

I thought great I could just increase it and it would work perfectly. But I can't move it any lower or higher. I can only mute it. Please help me with this as I'd like to use the new mic.

The headset I'm using is the Nemesis Akuma (the wireless one)

Hi Joy

Method #1 didn't make a difference :/ And method #2 I can't do as it's plug and play drivers. There was no disc and no drivers I could find on the net.

Hello,

Thank you for posting your concern in Microsoft community and welcome to the Windows 10 Family.

From the description provided, I understand that windows is unable to configure the microphone settings for your headset device.

I would suggest you to use the below steps and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

Run the Microphone Setup Wizard

  1. Type “Set up Mic” in Cortana’s Search box.

  2. Follow the instructions provided to set up your microphone.

Check your microphone’s drivers

  1. Type in “Device Manager” in the Search box and select it from the list.

  2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers

  3. Right-click (or tap and hold) your microphone device and select Update Driver Software.

  4. Select Search automatically for updated driver software.  This option will scan the Internet for the correct version of the driver or determine if you already have the most recent driver installed.  You may be prompted to restart your computer to install the driver.

Manually turn up the mic gain

  1. Type in “Sound” in the Search box and select Sound (Control Panel) from the list.

  2. Select the Recording tab.

  3. Right-click (or tap and hold) on the active microphone input device and select Properties.

  4. Select the Levels tab.

  5. Manually drag the Microphone gain to a higher level and click Apply.

Write to us with the updated information. If the issue still persists we would be happy to help you.

Thank you.

I got a replacement headset from the developer and I can hear myself now but I still can't move the boost up.
So it's not the headset. It's a Windows issue. :/

Hi Cyph1n,

It seems i have had the same issue that you have been having, Are you still getting this issue or have you gave up?

Its seems what the problem is that windows doesn't seem to think the headset has a microphone attached,
As from my realtek HD control panel i dont actually have the option to change settings with my mic.

Also i have the same issue where in the recording tab, where it says microphone boost, But actually cant move the slider up further.
