Audio driver not working after windows 10 update.

After Windows 10 update 1803 audio device drivers have stopped working on some of our computers. I have tried installing High definition Audio Device driver but it doesn't solve the problem. The device appears to be VIA chip (Hardware ID is FUNC_01&VEN_1106&DEV_0397&SUBSYS_1458A000&REV_1000\4&13822FA9&0&0201.

VIA website only provides drivers for windows 8.1. Unfortunately they don't work either.

In the device manager the following error is displayed:

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. To fix this problem you should uninstall and then reinstall the hardware device. (Code 19)

Rollback is not really an option, any help on how to solve this problem is appreciated.

Can you check the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

At that registry key, in the right window, is there, under "Name", either an UpperFilters or LowerFilters value?

If so, for each of the UpperFilters and/or LowerFilters value, what is listed under "Data"?

There is UpperFilters and its Data value is:

ksthunk

klpnpflt

I tried deleting this value, as suggested in one article I found, but it gets restored after reboot.

The ksthunk is normal and is the default.

The klpnpflt appears to be related to Kaspersky and may be problematic.

If Kaspersky is installed can you try updating to the latest version of Kaspersky.

Removing Kaspersky did remove the second part of the key value, however it did not fix the problem. Completely removing UpperFilters fixed it, however, Kaspersky keeps restoring UpperFilters after every restart.
