ATTEMPTED_SWITCH_FROM_DPC blue screen (Windows 10)

Hi,

At around 11:00 this morning, I got the message that my copy of Windows 10 was available. I upgraded and everything worked fine up until around 6:45ish this evening, at which point my PC blue screened with the error code "ATTEMPTED_SWITCH_FROM_DPC." What I'm wondering is what the heck this error means, how serious it is, and what caused it.

If this is a duplicate question I apologize; I only saw questions regarding this error in earlier versions of Windows. Hardware seemed the best available category to post this in, but please let me know if there's a better one.

Please feel free to let me know if there's any additional information you need (log files, what I was doing at the time, weird behavior prior to the crash, etc)

Thanks,

Joe

We do need the actual log files (called a DMP files) as they contain the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

Please follow our instructions for finding and uploading the files we need to help you fix your computer. They can be found here

Happy to help.  Just happened to be lurking

This was related to Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4 Wireless Network Adapter Driver.

Completely remove the current driver and install the newest driver available.  For instructions on how to do that Read all about updating drivers by my partner JMH3143 here http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki/windows_other-hardware/updating-a-driver/a5e6345e-af9b-4099-bef0-8d22254aa1c1?tm=1436753520149

Alright, thanks! :)

I've had to do this with pretty much every other driver on my computer since upgrading; I don't quite know how I overlooked that one.

Thanks again!
