Protect Yourself From Tech Support Scams
Tech support scams are an industry-wide issue where scammers trick you into paying for unnecessary technical support services. You can help protect yourself from scammers by verifying that the contact is a Microsoft Agent or Microsoft Employee and that the phone number is an official Microsoft global customer service number.

The problem described above also concerns me with my asus N55SF. I tried the thing you suggested a few days ago, but speakers are set as default. Actually after few days I noticed that sometimes after turning on my laptop, windows is able to play all system sounds. The catch is that when I try to play some music or video (VLC/BS player, youtube,...), speakers are dead silent since.
I hope that someone will find solution because this is driving me crazy.

Hey, I'm using Windows 10 Home and just wanted to share something. This other day I turned on loudness equalization to increase the Max Audio Output and the sound just went out. Moreover, I was able to hear the audio from the headphones. So, summing up the scenario:
Audio not coming from main speakers at all but from headphones.
I tried many solutions from the internet but what worked for me:
- Open Device Manager
- Right-Click on IDT High Definition Audio CODEC or whatever your Sound-Card Driver is.
- Uninstall it.
- Scan for hardware changes.
- Let the system install the sound card and there you have it, sound!
I hope this helps others...
