Windows 10 is installing a usb touchscreen driver for my Hp envy touchsmart laptop

Hi, today my Windows 10 decided that my touchscreen is a usb touchscreen controller manufactured by egalax touch and installed a driver from Windows update. My computer is a hp envy 14k-106la touchsmart notebook with a touchscreen but now the touchscreen is not working properly, is not detecting a dual touch for example and the Windows properties shows a non pen or touch input available for the display. Previous to this driver installation the touchscreen was working fine.

i tried uninstalling the device and deleting the driver, it Works for a couple of minutes and then is back.

i'ts frustrating. Any help would be apreciated.

Thanks for your feedback.

My HP Envy also lost some touch abilities after upgrading to Win 10. The option "pen and touch" was not visible and I was informed that my device did not have touch function. It certainly did in Win 8.1. I found this beautiful solution at http://home.eeti.com.tw/Win10Update.html. Now all my touch functions are back. It was quick and easy to fix but took quite a bit of my own research to find the solution. Apparently, the Win Update downloads and installs the wrong driver and I needed to revert to the native driver.

Hello,

I had a similar problem. Thankfully, I was able to find the solution. It is a specific driver. If you are having the same problems please follow these steps:

1) Go to Device Manager (Windows Key+X, select it)
2) Under the "Mice and other pointing devices" list find "USB Touchscreen controller", or the driver that's not your mouse/touchpad.
3) Right click to select "Properties", click the "Driver" tab, and click "Roll back".
4) After confirming, this will remove the driver from that list but bring up a bunch of new ones under "Human Interface Devices", where the touchscreen stuff logically should live.
5) Make sure that all the other drivers are updated EXCEPT "USB input device". This is the one that moves it all to the mouse drivers.

After a restart the driver didn't automatically reinstall like they usually do. If it does, run the "Show or hide updates troubleshooter" found here.

I would like to think this is an issue from eGalax Touch, which is responsible for the driver, but if you do a search for "egalax touch acts like mouse" this is an issue dating back to Windows 7. Either a) Microsoft should stop doing business with them, b) Microsoft should provide a fix for how the driver interacts with the OS, or c) let the consumer know that there is an issue and how to fix it. Because it's the SAME ISSUE.

Thanks

JDRC

Thanks, JDRC. All touch functions had disappeared and I found no mention of pen and touch abilities. I also found the same solution through some research before finding your solution and my problem is gone. It is definitely an eGalax touch issue. Here is a link
<http://home.eeti.com.tw/> to their solution, which I did
not find necessary to use. The simpler fix you and I used was easy and
didn't require any patch download from eGalax.
