Unable to connect Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Desktop keyboard and mouse.

Original title: Designer Bluetooth Desktop

Hello,

I have Windows 10 Home, 32 bit and a Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Desktop keyboard and mouse. I'm unable to connect via Bluetooth. When pairing is active on the devices, Bluetooth is just "turning around" and no pairing or connection... Thanks to give some ideas

Regards, Peter

Hi Peter,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

- What is the make and model of your PC?

As you are unable to connect keyboard and mouse via Bluetooth, this issue might occur if the driver are outdated or not compatible.

Uninstall and install the Bluetooth driver.

a) Press Windows + X and select Device Manager from the list.
b) Locate the Bluetooth driver and expand it.
c) Right click on the Bluetooth driver and select Uninstall.
d) Follow the onscreen instructions to uninstall the driver.
e) Restart the computer. The driver will get reinstalled again after the computer restarts. You may also install the latest version of drivers from the manufacturer’s website and check.

If the issue still persist, I suggest you to download the latest drivers and check.

Using a different PC download the latest Bluetooth driver setup file from the below link to a flash drive or to a DVD drive and install it on your PC.

Hope the information helps, if you have any further queries, feel free to post. We are here to assist you.

Regards,

Guru Kiran

Hi Guru, thanks for your quick inputs.

I already did (several) times your process up to the point where you suggested to install the Bluetooth driver from the manufacturer's website. The reason being that following the link no driver can be found. Only users' manuals are listed there. I checked that from another computer too. By the way at the moment I use USB radio for connecting my Logitech keyboard and mouse, but wanted to change for Microsoft Bluetooth Desktop 7N9-00012.

For easy surfing and messaging I just bought CSL mini PC on a stick (link below for more information)

https://www.csl-computer.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=10956&cPath=198&XTCsid=j7ghn6bkr7q6gia3fc5rkohug5

In brief

Edition: Windows 10 Home

Processor: Intel Atom CPU Z3735F @ 1.33GHz 1.33GHz

System: Type: 32-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Manufacturer: CSL Computer GmbH & Co. KG

I also downloaded and installed the driver from CSL webpage - no success - however I did exactly that you proposed in terms of process.

https://www.csl-computer.com/shop/shop_content.php?coID=11

I tried both SN_1508XXXX and SN_1510XXXX

Thanks for your feed-back & Regards

Peter

Hi Peter,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

Are you still facing the issue? I suggest you to run Hardware Troubleshooter to diagnose issue with hardware if there are any on your computer.

  • Click on Start icon or hit Windows logo and click on Settings.
  • Type Troubleshooting and select troubleshooting.
  • Click on Hardware and Sound and select Hardware and Devices and click on next and follow the on-screen instructions.

The second thing you can do is Start Bluetooth services and check if it helps.

  • Press Windows key + R, type services.msc
  • Right click on Bluetooth support service and select Start.
  • Restart the computer.

Let us know the results and feel free to write for further help and we’ll be more than happy to assist.

Thank you.

Thank & Regards,

SuJata Moktan.

Hello Sujata,

None of the hints you gave me works. I'm really disappointed as both are Microsoft products, both are new.

I'm able to connect my Samsung S5 to my PC as well as to my Designer Desktop vie Bluetooth separately, i.e. both are working, but cannot connect to each other.

I have contacted also Microsoft software support (case number available if needed), and they referred me to hardware support. This I still need to do, but it looks no one can take ownership end to end.

Regards, Peter

This is really disappointing that Microsoft are unable (or not willing) to solve a connectivity problem between two Microsoft products. I spent about 70$ and 3 weeks without any success.

Now to save time and avoid more stress I bought Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse which work perfectly - for half price... I encourage everybody to avoid buying Microsoft products.

Regarding the below instructions by Guru Kiran, Before uninstalling (between steps B and C) I would first right-click on the Bluetooth adapter and let Windows attempt to automatically find an updated driver on its own.  If that does not work, then go back and continue with step C.

Uninstall and install the Bluetooth driver.

a) Press Windows + X and select Device Manager from the list.
b) Locate the Bluetooth driver and expand it.

->Right-click on the Bluetooth Adapter and select update driver
->Allow windows to automatically find the driver on its own.

->If that doesn't work then continue on

c) Right click on the Bluetooth driver and select Uninstall.
d) Follow the onscreen instructions to uninstall the driver.
e) Restart the computer. The driver will get reinstalled again after the computer restarts. You may also install the latest version of drivers from the manufacturer’s website and check.

Hello Neha,

appreciate your reply, however activating the link I see "Applies to Windows Vista". I have Windows 10 Home.

Nevertheless I tried to“Fix it” by clicking on it, but the error message I've got confirmed my expectations: "This troubleshooter does not apply to your system".

Thanks // Best regards // Peter

Hello Tim,

unfortunately it did not help when I allowed Windows to automatically find the driver. Then I continued (maybe 21st time) with c).

My Keyboard and Mouse are: "Microsoft Bluetooth Designer Desktop". When going to Manufacturer's i.e. Microsoft WEB-page, I see there User's Manuals only and no drivers. If you found drivers for me, please send me the link.

Thanks // Best regards // Peter

Hello,

I kinda have same problem - actually the Bluetooth Mouse on the Microsoft 'Designer Bluetooth Desktop' pairs fine - the keyboard pairing needs a 'passcode' to be entered on the Bluetooth keyboard and then hit enter. Every time I get a 'that did not work' either when hitting enter or it simply times out.

Is there a way to pair a Bluetooth Keyboard with Windows 10 without having to enter a Passcode?

Brg,

JP
