Some keyboard keys not working after 3/16/17 W10 update

After the latest W10 update the 1, 2, 3, 4 and (most annoyingly) the space bar on my keyboard only work if I hold down the FN key when I type.  This seems to be related to the update, as the keys worked fine right before and all the other keys still work.  I have run the device troubleshooter (no problems found), uninstalled the driver and still have the problem.  I hope that Microsoft monitors this forum and responds in addition to the rest of the community.  BTW I have a Toshiba Satellite L775-S7248 that has been bulletproof for 5 years.

I solved this problem.

Windows sent a Synaptics update on 03/15. But they sent Lenovo update for Toshiba computers...

I had to do two things :

1. Reinstall Synaptics driver from their site.

2. Update this driver.

Didn't work, but appreciate the response.  To be clear, I went to the Synaptics site, downloaded the Windows 10 I2C Devices v19.0.19.1* driver and ran the setup.  Rebooted my laptop, no change.  If there is another site to get the referenced Lenovo driver for Toshiba, can you provide the URL?

Hi Marcus,

Your keyboard's driver may have become incompatible after the update. Since you're using a Toshiba device, we recommend reaching out to their support team for assistance in obtaining the needed drivers.

Additionally, you can check out this article to troubleshoot keyboard issues in Windows.

Feel free to post on this thread if you need further assistance.

My keyboard still works for the most part, if I press the FN key and then the otherwise inoperative keys, they work.  Since it started after the W0 update it has to be related to that.  Too bad that Microsoft offers no way to get help form their experts, instead putting their users in the hands of the community which so far have offered no help.

This could be related to the latest update that was installed. To validate it, let's perform a system restore to go back to the time when the update was not yet installed. For steps in performing a system restore, please check out this article and scroll down to the Restore from a system restore point section.

It just keeps getting better and better (tongue firmly in cheek).  Big surprise!!!!!  Microsuck won't ALLOW me to roll back the update:

Interesting - this is the 5th time I have attempted to insert a screen shot of the message I got after trying to roll back the update, and EACH time I got the "Internet Explorer has stopped working" and it closed my browser and I lost this message each time.  Anyway, I am still completely screwed - can't undo the update, my keyboard keys still don't work, and there is NO WAY to get any help from Microsuck.  What a joke

Be like a lot of us and never use IE.  Download Firefox or Avant Browser.  Both work well.

I happen to also use Firefox Nightly which is their beta and gets updated at least once a week if not more often.

Hi Marcus.  I had the same problem with my L775D-S7222.  I worked remotely with a Microsoft tech support agent and she was awesome.  After some routine troubleshooting we found that my particular Toshiba model did not have the capability to properly download the Synaptic program update for Windows 10. The incompatibility resulted in the 1,2,3,4,space keys problem.  All we did was uninstall the Synaptic program and it automatically defaulted back to the previous system, which in my case was Windows 7.  And my keys came back!!  By the way, I had also tried restoring the system previous to the software update, but it wouldn't allow me either.  It may have accomplished the same thing, but this solution cut right to the problem.  Hope it works for you.  Good luck.
