Runtime error (-1.0) When I try to install Assasin's creed

Original Title: Runtime error (-1.0)

When I try to install Assasin's creed, It shows 

" Runtime error (at -1.0)


Hi Dileep,

This issue may occur if one or more of the following conditions are true:

  1. Runtime components of Visual C++ Libraries are missing.

  2. Software problem.

I suggest you to uninstall existing Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package and install the latest Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package to check if it helps.

Follow the below steps:

Step 1: Uninstall the exiting Microsoft Visual C++.

a) Press Windows key + x key and select Programs and Features.

b) Right click on the Microsoft Visual C++ and uninstall it.

Step 2: Download the latest Microsoft Visual C++ and install it.

If the issue still persists, then the issue might have caused due to any third party program/app. I suggest you to perform Clean Boot and check if it helps.

Placing your system in Clean Boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue. You need to follow the steps from the article mentioned below to perform a Clean Boot  

Note: Once you are done with the troubleshooting, perform the steps in "How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot "to reset computer as usual.
