Network printer with LPR port on Asus router

I have windows 10 home on  a home network connected to an ASUS AC3200 router. The router has provisions for connecting a printer to it for sharing printer jobs.  In order to do this, the printer port has to be set as an LPR port.  The problem is that the laptop now wont stay awake if left idle and wont totally shut down either.  It seems to take a huge performance hit on boot time also. Any ideas?

Hello,

There are several factors that might cause this concern. To provide you the appropriate resolution, we would like to know if the issue is only happening when you're using an LPR port.

We look forward to your response.

Yes, I had a performance issue and wiped the computer and reinstalled windows 10.  The computer was performing very well until I installed the printer as a port to the router using  LPR.  Now the computer takes longer to boot, will go straight to shutdown if left idle and shut down wont complete.

To diagnose the issue, we would like to know if the printer is connected to the router via cable or wireless.

For isolation purposes, we advise that you disconnect the printer from the router and check if you're having the same issue with the performance of your laptop.

Regards.

The printer is connected to the router via a USB cable, the router is connected to the laptop wireless.  If I disconnected the printer from the router, the issue goes away.
